So yesterday I turned on my computer and my desktop was totally different; my desktop image was gone, files were missing, and settings had been changed.

Now I'm trying to work on my PC as normal, but little things keep occuring; I can't watch videos on Youtube and can't download flash player in IE (youtube videos work in netscape but with no sound… odd?), I can't download items from websites, I try to download updates from Microsoft and the site keeps asking me to allow activeX instead of going on after I allow it, when I right-click on the desktop the box is notably different (small font and a gray box… weird), and regedit wouldn't work unless I type regedit.exe.

I'm guessing my registry has been hijacked, so I'm hoping someone can help interpret this log!
Thanks in advance and hope to hear from someone soon!

The last thing I remember doing the night before I turned the comp. on the following day was attempting to download a windows media player update which was unsuccessful…

Also, I got a message saying I needed administrator rights to download something, but this is a personal computer and
I believe I have those rights.

Hello and Welcome to the Forum.

Please delete any HijackThis Folders and Files you have now.Use Add/Remove Programs and remove HijackThis. What you have now is a Beta Version and isn't ready to use.

You can get a complete installer that installs HijackThis to C:\Program Files\HijackThis, making an entry in the start menu and also providing a desktop shortcut from http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/HJTsetup.exe.

Click on the link and select Save, save it to your desktop and double click HJTsetup.exe.

Open HijackThis and select: Do a system scan and save a log file.

When the scan is finished, Click Edit> Select All> Edit> Copy> and paste its contents here please use the [Add Reply] button below.
Whatever is currently hijacking my computer won't let me download such items, when I click on the link you provided, the download box pops up, but it does not get past 0% and quickly stops the download, saying, "Internet Explorer was not able to open this site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later." I tried downloading some other things as well to no avail.
I suggest you do this:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Defender
We need to disable your Windows Defender Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.

Open Windows Defender.
Click on Tools, General Settings.
Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.

After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

If hijackthis won't open, move on to delete the files and folder

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Thanks to everyone for your prompt, much needed help!

So I "fix checked" all the files mentioned and looked for any
of the files mentioned in the C:\ though they were not present.

After "fix check"-ing and rebooting, the computer rebooted pretty
normally; while shutting down, the screen closed what looked like a window from some program quickly, and the computer was intially pretty slow while loading the start-up programs.

Here's my new log after rebooting:

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
All instructions were followed, and when I rebooted, the computer took longer than usual to turn off as the "Windows is shutting down" screen stayed up for a kinda long time.

Once the computer DID restart, there was a black screen up for a while (I thought the computer broke!)
but my mouse was visible on the screen. This passed and I started up as normal.

Here's my new log:

Looks like Windows Defender stopped our fix:

Open Windows Defender.
Click on Tools, General Settings.
Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.

After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Right-click on the deldomains.inf file and select 'install'

Once it is finished your Zones should be reset.

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
OK, so Windows Defender "Turn on real-time protection (recommended)" was already off from the previous time you asked me to do so;
I also have Windows One Care on this computer… could that be the problem?

Also:
O16 - DPF: {6E5A37BF-FD42-463A-877C-4EB7002E68AE} (Housecall ActiveX 6.5) - http://housecall65.trendmicro.com/housecal…ivex/hcImpl.cab

both of these were not present when I ran HijackThis so I couldn't "fix checked" those ones.

Also, I attempted to clean the recycling bin but I found out I can't empty it when I right click on it, can't open the recycling bin by double clicking it, and I can't drag items as deem as trash into it.

ODD!
lol
All this stuff keeps coming back after I "fix" it huh?

Thanks
Also, the reboot was similar to the previous one, long wait while shutting down, quick all black screen, and slow boot up.
I ended up just removing One Care, but I as I wanted to post my new HiJackThis log, the website wouldn't let me connect to post on this forum; I tried sending e-mails from my yahoo account while I was having this issue and could compose a message but could not send as the computer wouldn't connect. I was eventually able to send out an e-mail through my AIM mail, but that was a pain. I'm gonna try to post my latest HJT log when I get home, but if I'm unsuccessful, is there another way I can post or send my log for help? This changes are crippling to my work right now. Thanks for all the help so far though because I'd be totally lost otherwise.
Launch Notepad (Start>All Programs>Accessories), and copy/paste all the Quoted REGEDIT below to it. Don't forget to include REGEDIT4.
Save in: Desktop
File Name: fixme.reg

On the desktop, doubleclick fix.reg and allow it to run. Let it merge.
