Basically I heard about Hijackthis, and thought, I'll try it…
Any help would be appriciated…

I allow roomates to use my computer, and one of them downloaded something, but he doesn't know what it was.
Ad-aware found something and I had it removed, but now it keeps comming up with possable hijack attempt, with no explination, just an added line or two from my favorites that I didn't enter, they re-enter themselves everytime deleted though… anyhow. here's my log, and to let you know, everytime I open explorer a second window pops up even though I have two pop-up blockers on.

thank you
Hello hugh42 and welcome to TomCoyote forum. If you still need help and are not being assisted elsewhere then do this.
First I need to know about this: C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 2\MsgPlus.exe see this information: http://castlecops.com/startuplist-2034.html If you are having any problem with this program let me know.

1) Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp and please do not run it until I ask you to.

2) Download, update, configure and run these two programs: http://tomcoyote.org/aawsb.php Please do not activate TeaTimer until we are finished with the repair.

3) Ewido scan:
Please download Ewido Security Suite it is a trial version of the program.
  • Install ewido security suite
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
  • The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Then click on Start Update
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update Ewido.
Ewido manual updates

Once the updates are installed do the following:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.**
    • You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
    • If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
    • DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
    • If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close ewido security suite.
**(Ewido for example has been flagging parts of AVG Anti-Virus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk")

4) Run CCleaner, when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do. Then restart the computer and post a new HJT log and the Ewido scan results in this same thread along with any feedback you have.

We will HJT to clean up anything left.
Thanks…pskelley

Thank you for replying and helping me, here is what you asked for and thank you for helping get those programes as well. Still not sure what exactly I'm doing, saved a back up of Ccleaner, went through 397 items in issues, didn't know what they where, but since they said coulding find, I deleted all but 6. Anyway, here you go…

Hello, just a couple of questions before we cleanup. This item: C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 2\MsgPlus.exe I asked about it and received no response from you. I am assuming as a result that you have no problems with it.

You chose to ignore this item and not have Ewido delete it. C:\Documents and Settings\Pippin\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar\ar3.jar-1a8a9a89-15a38f3a.zip/Gummy.class -> Trojan.Java.Femad : Ignored

According to all information I have located, this item is a trojan and needs to be removed from your computer. You need to run Ewido again and when it locates this item, have Ewido delete or quarantine it.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Messenger was installed by a roomate, I honestly don't know if I'm having any problems with it, so don't know how to answer. But since I no longer have that roomate, see no reason it shouldn't be removed.

I re-ran Ewido, but nothing came up about Java\
so re-ran spy-bot, but nothing there either, then did ccleaner, and nothing again.

here's my latest reports.

C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 2\MsgPlus.exe I have not seen this version for a long time. If you are not having issues with sponsor programs like LOP then you can keep it if you wish. If you do not use it and want to remove it, try these instructions. I could not locate any that were for that particular version: http://www.msgplus.net/help_tutorials.php?…stall-uninstall I hope this helps.

You may want to check with your ISP and make sure this ProxyServer is valid: R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = 65.117.182.193:80
