Hi,
I've run adaware, norton full scan, spybot and ewido last night removing any object found.
I also removed any odd looking items using hijackthis.
I was still getting annoying pops last night (but don't seem to have got any today)
Could someone check out this logfile and see if there is still anything suspicious?

Hello and welcome to TomCoyote forum. You still have one nasty in there here it is: http://castlecops.co...list-11942.html
http://www.trendmicr...e=TROJ_DLUCA.CN

I would like to see the first ewido scan results if that is possible, it is in a "Reports" Folder in the ewido folder. Let's do this.

1) Open ewido and update it, then click scanner and complete system scan. Allow ewido to delete anything located unless you know it is not bad. Scan that scan report and post it also.

2) Turn off Microsoft AntiSpyware it will block the fix, and turn off Spysweeper it may block the fix. If you do not own Spysweeper and the trial is over, you may want to uninstall it, using your resources and giving no benefits.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://ie.redirect.h...ilion&pf=laptop
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dxvid] c:\windows\system32\dxvid.exe /nocomm

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Enable hidden files&folders..reverse the process when finished.
http://www.xtra.co.n...1916458,00.html

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

c:\windows\system32\dxvid.exe >>> file

C:\Windows\Prefetch\ >>> delete the contents (NOT THE FOLDER)
Prefetch info: http://www.windowsne...refetch-XP.html

If you don't have a good cleaner, use this one with these instuctions:
Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp
Run CCleaner, Windows & Applications when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do.

Restart the computer and post the two if ewido scan reports if you still have the first one, a new HJT log and your feedback.

Thanks...pskelley

Hi pskelley,

Thanks for the reply, I've followed the instructions you posted.

The 1st ewido scan didn't show anything.

Below is the ewido scan I completed today and removed the 4 items.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

---------------------------------------------------------
ewido anti-malware - Scan report
---------------------------------------------------------

+ Created on: 21:31:43, 21/02/2006
+ Report-Checksum: F309BDDD

+ Scan result:

C:\Documents and Settings\Maxine\Cookies\maxine@atdmt[2].txt -> TrackingCookie.Atdmt : Cleaned with backup
C:\Documents and Settings\Maxine\Cookies\maxine@mediaplex[1].txt -> TrackingCookie.Mediaplex : Cleaned with backup
C:\Documents and Settings\Maxine\Cookies\maxine@qksrv[2].txt -> TrackingCookie.Qksrv : Cleaned with backup
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dxvid.exe -> Downloader.Dluca.by : Cleaned with backup

::Report End

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I've uninstalled Microsoft Anti spyware and Spysweeper to be sure they wouldn't affect anyything.

I removed R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://ie.redirect.h...ilion&pf=laptop.

I couldn't find the following 2 items (Do you think the ewido scan may have removed them?)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dxvid] c:\windows\system32\dxvid.exe /nocomm
c:\windows\system32\dxvid.exe >>> file

I cleared the contents of the prefetch folder.

Hi Greggs, There is a a new infections on the computer :(
C:\program files\common files\system\mplay64.exe Look here >>> http://castlecops.co...list-12435.html
http://www.superadbl...4.EXE-6741.html

If you want to check it first, use one or more of these scanners and share the results with me:
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus
http://www.virustota...h/index_en.html

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MPlay64] c:\program files\common files\system\mplay64.exe /noerrorinfo

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Enable hidden files&folders..reverse the process when finished.
http://www.xtra.co.n...1916458,00.html

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\program files\common files\system\mplay64.exe >>> file

restart the computer. I suggest you keep the computer offline as much as possible until we get the all clean.

SpySweeper: as I said earlier, if you do not own the program you might as well leave it uninstalled. I will be providing links to help you stay clean and safe online once you are, but for now, since you were using Microsoft Anti spyware I noticed Microsoft has finially released "Defender" which replaces MAS, perhaps you should put it in place: http://russelltexas....re/defender.htm

I would like to run one more tool to make sure we have missed nothing, I thought we would be done but this new thing showing up, let's be sure.

http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner <<< download then follow these instructions:
Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.

Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.

Now click on Scan Settings

In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:

Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:

Extended (If available otherwise Standard)

Scan Options:

Scan Archives

Scan Mail Bases

Click OK

Now under select a target to scan select My Computer

The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.

Now click on the Save as Text button:

Save the file to your desktop.

Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Post the Kaspersky results and a new HJT log and hopefully you will be clean.

Thanks...Phil

Hi Phil,

Sorry about the delay in following the instructions

I ran http://virusscan.jotti.org/ and checked the mplay64.exe it showed the following:-

AntiVir Found nothing
ArcaVir Found nothing
Avast Found nothing
AVG Antivirus Found nothing
BitDefender Found nothing
ClamAV Found nothing
Dr.Web Found Trojan.DownLoader.6296
F-Prot Antivirus Found nothing
Fortinet Found nothing
Kaspersky Anti-Virus Found Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Agent.wp
NOD32 Found probably a variant of Win32/TrojanDownloader.Dluca (probable variant)
Norman Virus Control Found nothing
UNA Found nothing
VBA32 Found Malware.Agent.160 (paranoid heuristics) (probable variant)

I removed - O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MPlay64] c:\program files\common files\system\mplay64.exe /noerrorinfo
and also deleted the file from C:\program files\common files\system\mplay64.exe

I had to startup in safe mode as the file was in use each time I tried to delete normally.

I then ran the kapersky virus scanner, it showed the following.

Thanks again for all the help

Hey Tom, Not true, this HJT log is clean. What problems are you having? The Kaspersky scan goes like this:

The first six items: C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine\ <<< are in the NAV quarantine area. Navigate to the file in red and delete everything in it. Those nasties can not get out of quarantine, but not reason to let them stay on your computer.

Number 7: C:\RECYCLER\ <<< is also in the recycler (recycle bin) navigate there and clean it out. You may have to do that in safe mode? It can't get back on the computer unless you retore it and you are not about to do that.

The rest are in your System Restore files and these instructions will remove those and give you clean System Restore files:
System Restore does not know good from bad, it backs up everything. In case some of the infection got into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, restart your computer and turn it back on.
http://service1.syma...src=sec_doc_nam

That's that...a clean computer, here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
http://boards.cexx.o...topic.php?t=957
http://russelltexas....re/allclear.htm
http://forum.malware...wtopic.php?t=14
http://www.bleepingc...topict2520.html
http://cybercoyote.o...not-admin.shtml

ewido is a great program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

Here is some information that may help more:
