Hello Everyone,

Well this is my first time here - hope I am doing this right.

Some months back I let a relative use my computer for a night and ever since then I have had an extra toolbar at the top of Explorer - MySearch! I just cannot get rid of this thing no matter what.
I hope someone can help me here. I have enclosed a log from HiJackThis and can see something that could be it but I really don't know what I am doing so I thought it best left to the experts.

well.. I am by no means an expert but I've been reading logs at a few other forums and know how to google.. ;)


First off, you really should scan with adaware and spybot search and destroy and once that is cleaned, then go to your hijackthis app and clean up the remnants.

that said, here's what I think should be check markedand deleted.. I'll leave the rest of the log to be looked over by the experts.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank

O2 - BHO: myBar BHO - {0494D0D1-F8E0-41ad-92A3-14154ECE70AC} - C:\Program Files\MyWay\myBar\1.bin\MYBAR.DLL

then I would delete the directory (and sub directories) "myway"

same goes for this one:
O3 - Toolbar: &FirstStop WebSearch - {E26FDEC1-053B-11D6-B969-CEEBA9E95046} - C:\PROGRA~1\BRUSHG~1\FSWEBS~1\ieband3.dll

FYI.. a list of CLSIDs/ toolbars and info here:

of course, once done, you should then post a new log.

(make sure IE isn't running when you click on fix within HJT)

The FirstStop WebSearch which is the other line you suggest removal, that is legitimate - and not removed, unless the user does not require, it is not part of myway bar.
