Hi Nick, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. If you are still looking for help please follow these instructions in the order posted.

1) First read this: http://castlecops.com/startuplist-2034.html I can see evidence in the log of the infection that comes with this program if sponsors are allowed. Here is what I want to do. I want you to remove all instances of C:\Program Files\MessengerPlus! 3\MsgPlus.exe as part of our cleanup. When we have all the malware off your computer if you insist on using software from folks who would infect you like that (keep in mind that software has nothing to do with Microsoft or MSN Instant Messenger) then there is a new version..3.4 I think. Just make sure you download without the sponsors this time.

2) Follow these instructions and thanks to Elrond for this fix for LOP:

You have a LOP infection that often comes together with Messenger Plus. To remove it we will try the simple way first.

1. Go to Add/Remove programs. Double click on "Messenger Plus!" (or click on Remove)

2. The "Messenger Plus! - Setup" is now displayed. Click on the Uninstall button. Note: options displayed on the first screen are not related to the sponsor program.

3. The sponsor screen is now displayed (if you don't see it, search for it in your Task Bar). To prove that someone is currently reading the screen, you have to type the code that is displayed. Once you enter the code, press Uninstall.

4. If you entered the code properly, the program will ask you to confirm that you want to uninstall. You must answer "Yes" to this question, else, you won't have another chance of uninstalling.

5. To complete the uninstallation, follow the instructions that are displayed (the first one is to close all your Internet Explorer windows, that's very important). When everything is complete, restart your computer and, hopefully voila one nasty infection is gone.

3) Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Take the time to review the instructions on the download page so that when I ask you to run it you will know what you are doing.

4) SpySweeper will stop our HJT fix. Please turn it off until you are done.

5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

SHOW HIDDEN FILES: Follow the instructions in the link to enable hidden files for your operating system.
You may wish to reverse this process if you have any concern about anyone getting into these hidden system files.

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

Let's check for trojans in case any are hiding, run this free online scan, scan the whole system. Let me know what it finds and the exact name and location of anything it locates but can't remove. You may be asked to install an ActiveX, please do so as this program is safe and it can not run without it.
http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/

Run CCleaner then restart the computer and post a new log in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Let us know how you are running.

Thanks…pskelley

Hello Nick,

the search for trojans found 2 entries - these are

Those are just cookies, some cookies are necessary as certain sites like banking, etc., require the cookies for passwords and other services. I always override the cookie handling proceedure in IE for those myself and allow no others. It's a matter of personal preference as at some sites I can't avail myself of certain features because of not allowing the cookies. These text files collect information. Here is what Microsoft says about them: http://www.microsoft.com/info/cookies.mspx and a couple more views of the subject:
http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/c/cookie.html
http://www.ciac.org/ciac/bulletins/i-034.shtml
There is lots more information available via a Google search.
Now these: C:\documents and settings\breathe..\cookies\[removed][1] seem to be a unusual place but I may be wrong, if you do not know breatheconsulting I would navigate to those cookies and delete them.

There is also one orphaned BHO left from Stopzilla. It seems to have gotten missed. You may use HJT to remove it if you wish, keep in mind it is just clutter and doing no harm: O2 - BHO: (no name) - {E3215F20-3212-11D6-9F8B-00D0B743919D} - (no file)
If you do try to remove the BHO, remember to turn off your spyware programs, especially TeaTimer which I now see onboard.

Is this valid: O9 - Extra button: eBay - Homepage - {EF79EAC5-3452-4E02-B8BD-BA4C89F1AC7A} - C:\Program Files\IrfanView\Ebay\Ebay.htm (file missing) if you are not sure remove it with HJT.

Not a lot of information available about this item: C:\Program Files\UPDD\TBSystry.exe I believe it is valid, but would just like to check with you. Seems it is this: File: tbsystry.exe
Name: SystemTray MFC Application
Product: SystemTray Application

Once you are sure the items above are all ok, if you are running like you should be then you are clean and here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
