Glad to hear that it worked in Safe Mode.
I'll give you some optional items to fix that are known to slow down a computer.

Open HijackThis, run a scan, then check the following:
Optional items to check with HijackThis for improved performance.
You have Microsoft's Find Fast running on your PC and while a legitimate program, it is a resource hog. It is usually the cause of your computer getting really slow or even freezing for several seconds while it is indexing. Find fast neither finds things any better or faster than other Windows searches. You will notice system improvement by disabling this one. Go into the FindFast icon in the Control Panel and choose the "Index \ Close and Stop" menu option.
O4 - Startup: Microsoft Find Fast.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\FINDFAST.EXE

Resource hog that launches common MS Office components to help speed up the launch of Office programs. Some users claim there's no difference with or without it but it isn't required either way.
O4 - Startup: Office Startup.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA.EXE

With all other programs and browsers closed, click fix checked.

I would like to see one more HijackThis log, after the computer has been rebooted a few times, just to make sure the infection does not return.
well i thought it was home free but now the FURootkit has landed itself elsewhere, this time in C:\System Volume Information\restore{EBE6F55B-609E9-436A…
and once again it says it has been deleted but i keep getting the pop up…i just don't know where this thing is coming from!!! an W32/Sdbot.worm.gen.bw virus is in the same location as well.

That is in the System Restore which I'll have you clean out now.

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove bad files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected.)

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. On the System Restore tab, put a check mark in the 'Turn Off System Restore' check box.
3. Click OK, and then click Yes.
4. Restart the computer.
5. Repeat steps 1 - 2, this time clearing the box beside 'Turn Off System Restore', click 'OK'.

Please post a fresh Hijackthis log after System Restore has been cleaned out.
I'm not currently getting anymore messages, which is good for now, haha.

Your new log still appears clean. :)
Be sure to post back if you have any more problems.

MOST IMPORTANT: You Need to Update Windows and IE to get all the Latest Security Patches to protect your computer from the malware that is on the internet.
I recommend going to the following link and update to SP2. This adds more security and extra features including a pop-up blocker for Internet Explorer.
Microsoft Windows and Internet Explorer Updates

Here is a great link that explains the procedure for updating to SP2 with less complications (scroll down to the second post).

I suggest that you get these programs to help keep the computer clean:

Spyware Blaster - Blocks bad ActiveX items from installing on your computer. Spyware Blaster runs silently in the background.
ie-spyad - Puts over 12,000 bad URLs into your restricted sites for Internet Explorer.
Google Toolbar - Blocks many unwanted pop-ups in Internet Explorer.
Firefox - 'Safer' alternative to the Internet Explorer web browser.
ZoneAlarm - Free firewall program if you currently are not using one.

Here are three very good and free malware scanners:

Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4
AdAware SE v1.06
Set-up Instructions for Spybot S&D; and Adaware SE
a² Free Trojan Remover

If you have them already, check to make sure that they are the newest version.

Update these regularly.

You may also want to read "How did I get infected in the first place" to learn how to better secure your computer.

Be sure to keep Windows and your Anti-virus updated.
Well the FURootkit trojan is back in C:\WINDOWS\Sytem32\msdirectx.sys and I can already see on my log that the xpjava.exe is back as well.

I see that you have not updated Windows or Internet Explorer yet. Is this a legal copy of Windows XP on your computer?

Please copy the text in the box below into notepad and save it as unlegacy.reg
Set Filetype to "All files"

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_MSDIRECTX]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_MSDIRECTX]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\msdirectx]

Reboot the computer into Safe Mode (tap F8 during bootup, use arrow keys to select Safe Mode, then hit 'enter').

Open Task manager (ctrl+alt+delete) and end process on xpjava.exe

Open HijackThis, run a scan and check the following:

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=userinit.exe,xpjava.exe

With all other programs and browsers closed, click Fix Checked.

Double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
In the field labeled Full Path of File to Delete enter the file paths listed below ONE AT A TIME (EXACTLY as it appears, please double check to make sure!):

C:\WINDOWS\Sytem32\msdirectx.sys
C:\Documents and Settings\Dana\msdirectx.sys
C:\WINDOWS\System32\xpjava.exe

Press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it after each one. When it asks if you would like to delete on reboot, press the YES button, when it asks if you want to reboot now, press the NO button. Do this after each one until you have entered the LAST file path I have listed above. After that LAST file path has been entered, press the YES button at both prompts so that your computer restarts.
If you get a "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message then just restart manually.

Doubleclick unlegacy.reg and confirm you want to merge it with the registry.

Reboot the computer and scan with HijackThis. Post the new log as a reply to this thread.
My windows is a legal copy. I have dial-up and the fastest I connect is only 26.4 kbps, so needless to say it takes hours upon hours to download almost anything and I haven't had time to download updates yet. I guess I really need to get that done though being as I can't keep these viruses and trojans off my computer. Anyway, I can't find killbox.exe, even when I searched, did I miss somethign?
You can get a free copy of the SP2 updates on CD from Microsoft at the link below. This will include all updates up to and including SP2. There have been more critical updates since the CD was first release so it is very important to check for updates once SP2 has been installed.
Windows XP Service Pack 2 CD order

You didn't miss anything, it was my fault. I thought earlier instructions had you download that program already. Here is the fix with the link to download the Killbox program.

Please copy the text in the box below into notepad and save it as unlegacy.reg
Set Filetype to "All files"

Open HijackThis, run a scan and check the following:

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=userinit.exe,xpjava.exe

With all other programs and browsers closed, click Fix Checked.

Click Here to download Killbox by Option^Explicit.
Extract the program to your desktop and double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
In the field labeled Full Path of File to Delete enter the file paths listed below ONE AT A TIME (EXACTLY as it appears, please double check to make sure!):

Doubleclick unlegacy.reg and confirm you want to merge it with the registry.

Everything went well and I am not getting any pop ups currently. Also I am currently downloading windows updates, finally, hehe.
