Windows Updates

Tried to download updates and they fail to install i get the error response "A problem on your computer is preventing windows updates from being downloaded or installed " Does this with internet explorer and fire fox. Also when i use the drop down to goto a previous website i need to click the drop down arrow twice the first time it comes down then goes away. Is this normal? Thanks Micah I have used adaware, spybot, ewido, ccleaner, adaware x2plugin, cwshredder and coolwwwsearch.smartkiller still wont install

What OS……??

asumming you have xp……right??

Try downloading and installing SP1 directly from the following web site, instead of downloading it from the Windows Update web site.

Windows XP Service Pack 1 (direct download)

http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/pro/do…acks/sp1/def...

Select "Network Installation" (32-bit)

Make sure to disable your antivirus program and close any open programs before installing it.

Sorry about that Yes i'm using xp pro with sp1. will try to install sp1 again from the link you gave me. The double clicking drop down menu on Fire Fox I have to do twice. Downloaded it from two diffrent sites and have the same thing happing. Only does it when i first open the browser after that its fine.
