Hello !

I try to repair my system after what it seems to be a spybot attack (computer slower, crash, virtual memory not sufficient,…).
My new virus virus scanner, avast, seems to not funtion properly (maybe false files since spybot ?) and running hijackthis, I discover that some files seems to be missing :

O23 - Service: avast! Mail Scanner - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashMaiSv.exe" /service (file missing)
O23 - Service: avast! Web Scanner - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashWebSv.exe" /service (file missing).

-> Now I'm not sure spybot b have been totally exterminated, or maybe I have other threats.

I check with stinger and trend micro but nothing either.

Thank for your help,

Sorry if this is simple, I'm a Newbie there.

Hello Pom, welcome to the TC. Do you know if this is your ISP? O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{08456FA3-BF24-4EC0-B951-730F88A38F95}: NameServer = 80.10.246.1 80.10.246.132
Thanks for your help, LDTate [removed] 80.10.246.132 is really my ISP I'm wondering… - What do you think of this file missing thing ? O23 - Service: avast! Mail Scanner - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashMaiSv.exe" /service (file missing) O23 - Service: avast! Web Scanner - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashWebSv.exe" /service (file missing) - I'm trying to test my softwares : azureus, my bittorent client, is really slow : downloading at 11 kb/s but indicating for total speed 70kb/s with nothing else running !!! There must be something !!!

O23 - Service File Missing

HJT sometimes doesn't reconize the file. That doesn't mean the file id missing.

Lets try this:
To use it:
  • Download CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ and install.
  • Open CCleaner.
  • Place a check by everything in the Applications tab.
  • Place a check by Internet Explorer, Windows explorer, and System in the Windows tab.
  • Hit the button that says Run CCleaner
  • Reboot to remove index.dat files.
I ran Ccleaner , thank you (fast & cool software !) Proccess seems in normal speed. But there is still a problem with my azureus : I download with a speed half the usual one. And the download of the files never ends : the size of the unfinished dowloaded file is bigger than the files's expected size !!!! (1,7 Gb / 350 Mb) strange :rant2: What can I do ?
I'd go here and read the FAQ and Support forums.

Good Job, your log is clean.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Click Start> My Computer, select the Tools menu and then Folder Options, after the new window appears select the View tab…]
This time select the: Restore Defaults
Select: Apply, and click OK

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D
I already have a firewall (kerio) and an anti virus (avast) but it is not sufficient as I see. ;) Now I will use a spywarestopper. Thank you again for your help. LDTate PS. For azureus, I will try to find answer on Sourceforge, the official site (http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=349817 ). ;)
