After a very helpful response to my HJL and following the initial instructions, I have ran into a problem. Using Windows Update Mgr, I have downloaded and instaled SP2 (I did not have SP1 installed first).
I now cannot get my moniter to work - completely black.

hmm.. Although I am not a fan of it I havent yet ran across SP2 taking out monitors. How old is it and do you think its possible that maybe it just died on you?

Thank you for the suggestion. I suppose it is a possible coincidence that the monitor died - it is a 3 year old NEC Multisync 75. However, when I rebooted in Safe Mode, the monitor screen went a forest green then blue. As well, the monitor configuration buttons on the bottom of the monitor work.

ok..do this. Reboot, go into bios. make sure your aparature setting is correct (1/4 the amount of ram on board). If they are, then tell us, do you have integrated video..? is the video card your using an AGP card and if so, do you have a PCI one?
