Hello,

I have a significant probem that has left me scratching my head for the past 7 hours. Windows Media Player launches when I start up my computer. There is no way to disable this from within Windows Media Player (trust me, I've been all around the net on this one). I have Windows Media Player 9 and I also tried upgrading to Windows Media Player 10 but this did not solve the probem. Even Windows Media Player 10 would start up automatically at system start. Since then, I have reverted back and forth between 9 and 10 multiple times, and even forcibly uninstalled 9 and reinstalled 9 back again.

I also tried going into the start up folder, MSConfig, and disabling Windows Media Player from the start up list. Didn't work.

According to Microsoft and popular opinion on the internet, this problem is due to a trojan or spyware. I ran CWSearch, Spybot Search and Destroy, and AdAware. Didn't help.

I've tried every "trick in the book" and I've exhausted every possible option. The only remaining chance is that one of you can identify a trojan that is the cause of the problem.
