Dad's Going ......... Help!

Hi, Im Sasha. Can someone please take a look at this log and tell me what is going on..I updated and ran Adaware and Spybot, rebooted and let them both scan again. This is my Dads computer, and he is running AOL for broadband, and IE cable. He has MyIE2 installed (Im sure this is old hat for you guys, but just in case, it's an 'upgrade' of IE) and now his computer is barely creeping. It takes a good 5 minutes to boot, with nothing on the screen but the wallpaper. It will not let us set a homepage in internet options, it will only open blank. His defrag will not work, it sits at 0% indefinetly. Please tell me what I can do to help him out, before he tosses this computer over the balcony! :scratch:

By the way, I think I typed something wrong in the title of my topic. I was censored, the letters I typed in the topic came out as "……." when it posted. I apologize, I used a colloquiallism that sometimes people use to mean 'going crazy". It did have a bad word in it, but I had switched letters and thought it was harmless enough. I was wrong. :unsure: So, my new title is: My dad is losing his everloving mind because his computer is being uncooperative, and it has put him in a bad mood and if I don't fix his computer before he throws it over the balcony, I am going to throw HIM over the balcony! :P Sorry! you might have msblast worm…. go to windows updates and get updated….. also go to microsoft.com and search for ms blast patch just incase i think…. also ask someone before you download the new ms blast patch becuz it might not be the virus or trojan but download all windows updates… and then reboot again

Have Hijack This fix all of the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and hitting fix checked. Make sure all browser and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

Reboot, and delete the file C:\WINDOWS\AGNTAHN.exe

Not certain that it will help with the speed, but they should be removed.

Two files in your running processes list are unfamiliar to me. Would you please find the files
C:\WINDOWS\System32\brss01a.exe and C:\WINDOWS\System32\brsvc01a.exe, and check the properties please. Post back with any information as to their origins.

An on line anti virus scan might be worthwhile. try Housecall or Panda A/V.

Thank you guys! Okay, meangean, I fixed all the ones you said, except for the houton.rr.com, because that is the website for my ISP. Also, I went to microsoft.com and downloaded a msblast patch. Apparently I didnt have it, but at least now I won't get it. Thank you!

Dave38-I fixed all the files you told me to, and rebooted. As far as those 2 unfamiliar files you wanted me to check, they are both by Brother Industries, LTD, which makes crappy printers, which my dad had installed on his computer for some unknown reason. I tried to delete them because we no longer have the Brother printer, but they both (and their read-mes) give me an error message saying Access denied, to make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not in use.

Clean log! It would be as well to download all the critical updates for windows, including SP1. that will close a lot of security holes.
