Hi victim and welcome to the Tom Coyote Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will he helping you.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1. Go to the Tom Coyote Forums http://forums.tomcoyote.org/index.php?
.Click on My Controls near the top middle of the window (make sure you have signed in first)
.On the left hand column, click "view topics"
.If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there
2. Also, while at that place in control panel, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification", By doing this, you will be notified as soon as I have posted a reply to your log.

3. Copy and paste this code box text into a text editor such as Notepad.

Save the following bold text as ResetAppInit.reg. Make sure the "Save as type:" is "All Files (*.*)" and save it to your desktop.

Double-click on ResetAppInit.reg. When it asks you to merge the information to the registry click Yes.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows]
"AppInit_DLLs"=""

4. REBOOT your computer

5. Finally, run HijackThis and with all windows closed except for HJT, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

Regards,

Trevuren
Thanks For replying, I did as you instructed… I clicked yes and i got an error massage saying this wasnt a valid registry script… what should I do now?
Hi Patmack,

Please try the reg fix again. Copy the following to Notepad and use title APP.reg.
If it is saved properly, a blue cube should appear on your desktop. You click on that and say yes when asked to merge.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows]
"AppInit_DLLs"=""

Hi Patmack,

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Now let's do some work on your log:

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ANIWZCSService] C:\Program Files\Alpha Networks\ANIWZCS Service\WZCSLDR.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [checkrun] C:\windows\system32\eliteovc32.exe

Now with all the items selected, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window and Reboot Your System in Safe Mode

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and DELETE them (if they are present):

FILES

C:\windows\system32\eliteovc32.exe

FOLDERS (with all their content)

C:\Program Files\Alpha Networks

Exit Explorer, and REBOOT BACK INTO NORMAL MODE

Finally, RUN Hijackthis again and produce a new HJT log. Post it in the forum so we can check how everytjhing looks now.

Regards,

Trevuren
Hi…. I deleted te above items, and my computer wont boot regular after i deleted the file and folder in safe mode…. it wont boot in safe mode either after i deleted that file and folder…. There is just a white progress bar at the bottom of the screen that goes to 100% then nothing happens….. I ran a chkdsk and it found and fixed errors but didnt help… any ideas?
Hi Patmack,

I have never heard of that before.

Try the following, it should work and tell me what happens

Boot into the Recovery Console by following these steps:
  • Insert the Windows CD and restart your computer. Follow your computer's prompts to boot from the CD. (You might need to adjust settings in the computer's BIOS to enable the option to boot from a CD.)
  • Follow the setup prompts to load the basic Windows startup files. At the Welcome To Setup screen press R to start the Recovery Console.
  • Enter the number of the Windows installation you want to access from the Recovery Console.
  • When prompted, type the Administrator password. If you're using the Recovery Console on a system running Windows XP Home Edition, this password is blank by default, so just press Enter.
Regards,

Trevuren
