In the last week or two, my DSL internet has been either going off line or running extremely slow, as in 56K slow. Before the DSL was running fine, without any problems. It stayed online as long as the computer was turned on and ran almost as fast as my previous cable internet. I'm using Verizon DSL and at first I thought it was probably a problem with my DSL connection, but after going through all the steps to see if there is anything wrong I found that it was fine, so thus it probably is something wrong with my computer. Now I haven't experienced any problems with the computer itself, just the internet. As of now I have SpyBot installed, as well as McAfee Firewall and Norton Anti-Virus, and all are running. However, the internet is still either crawling or not starting at all. I found that the only way to get the internet online is to run a scan with spybot and then restarting the system, and even so it still is extremely slow. Any suggestions on what I should do will be greatly appreciated.

Note: The strange thing is after I first installed spybot and ran a scan the internet was working like normal. Then the next day it started to crawl again. I think it may have been something in the spybot upgrade that I downloaded, because after I scanned with the original spybot it worked, but the next day it didn't and that was with the upgrade.

Thanks

Here is my current HJT log:

Well I'm not that good with computers, but if it is not spyware then maybe someone is pinging your connection? This has been done to me before while I was on dial-up (cable now) and it was powerful enough to disconnect me completely. Try installing a better firewall, two examples are BlackICE or ZoneAlarm. I highly reccommend ZoneAlarm, because this seems to stop all pings. But, it can cause problems with certain programs that need internet access, and also some sites out there. I hope I helped a little, Old Camper

Have you tried emptying your temporary cache file? If you don't do this on a regular basis, you tend to collect a lot of garbage. This tends to slow-down your surfing habits. Not that I'm suggesting using Norton System Works, but it does provide a utility, CleanSweep, that will keep that garbage out. I'm sure there are other programs that do the same thing, but I couldn't tell you of one at the moment. Maybe I should do a search? As far as your HT log, I'm not too good at reading them. Sorry.
