Hello sweeney2005, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. Not sure what is causing 2ndthought.com it actually looks like a legit website. I will clean out all of the adware I see and we will see how you are running at that point. Please follow these directions.

1) Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Take the time to review the instructions on the download page so that when I ask you to run it you will know what you are doing.

2) Open Hijack this and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = http://www.isearch.com/index.php?app=SE&af…ODQ6NTo5&Terms=
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…/search/ie.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…rch/search.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
(if you know the next two you can leave them, look nasty to me)
O2 - BHO: BrowserPlugin Class - {AC716F07-89CE-4A95-8DD0-37C429C263DA} - C:\Program Files\Advanced Reality Inc\jYbe (beta)\Jybe.dll
O3 - Toolbar: &Jybe Toolbar - {74654569-770F-44c2-BB4C-9323BB8BEC9F} - C:\Program Files\Advanced Reality Inc\jYbe (beta)\Jybe.dll
(read this: http://castlecops.com/startuplist-180.html )
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE

Close all programs but HJT and all browser window, then click on "Fix Checked"

ALCXMNTR.EXE >>> file, you will have to search for this, I think it is C:\Program Files, once you locate it, just delete the file I have highlited in red.

Run CCleaner then restart the computer and post a new log in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Let us know how you are running.

Thanks…pskelley

Hello sweeney2005, I am sorry but you have not removed the nasty adware that may be causing your issues. Something went wrong in the fix. I will look over the the log to see if any software might have stopped the fix and give you the directions again. Please follow them carefully. Please also look at the first log, at what I asked you to remove and the last log. It should be fairly obvious that you did not remove what we intended. I am telling you this to help you be more aware of what is in your log. This HJT log is a great tool and it would be a very good thing for you to learn how to view it. Once we have successfully removed the obvious adware then we can see how you are running and go after any issues that are left.

i was wondering what this was

Search for the address: http://www.digitalcity.com/
This looked like something you might use and since it is not hostile, I left it. I can point out that you may remove any of the 016 Downloaded program files that you do not know what are or no longer use. Many bad trojans use this method to get into your system (hostile ActiveX) and information I will provide when you are clean will show you how to prevent this. If you should remove something you did not intend too, you will be prompted to download the .cab file again the next time you visit the website.

Help me out here, I see these items in the second log and not the first?
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssstars.scr
C:\Program Files\Privacy Guardian\pg.exe
I need information about the first one. I see no evidence of the fact you are running selective startup so if you are adding software in the middle of a complicated fix, I will ask that you please wait until I am done with your logfile and then you may do as you wish.

Since the first fix did not work and it may be that a program is stopping the fix, it could be Spyware Doctor, I have not heard that it will do this and I do not use this product. We will do the fix in safe mode. Here are instructions for entering safe mode, make sure you follow the instructions for your Operating System:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial61.html

Once in safe mode, Open Hijack this and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser window, then click on "Fix Checked"

Empty the recycle bin and restart the computer. Stay in this thread annd post a new log.
Thanks…pskelley

I have removed this item many, many times without EVER having any issues. I have removed it from personal computers also.

If you want this item bback non your computer, follow these directions.
Open HijackThis, then "View the list of backups", then check the box in front of the item you wish returned and click the "Restore" button. Follow any other directions until complete, then close HijackThis.

Perhaps it would be better if you were to seek assistance from someone else.
