The hour glass on my cursor is staying on all the time and the hard drive light stays on …..Like the computer is "working" all the time. I have ran spybot and adaware and can't fix it. Doug Thanks
There is a thing called virtual memory. It works like this: 1. You have your operating system and your programs saved on your hard drive. That is great for storage, but hard drives are slow. SOOO they made RAM. RAM is fast memory, BUT it has 2 drawbacks. 1. It cant store as much as the hard drive, and 2. the data in the ram disappears when you shut off the computer. So what happens is this: Lets say you are trying to open a word document. The hard drive loads that data into the RAM where it runs. Then lets say you want to open internet explorer. That is also loaded into the RAM. Well what happens when the RAM is full? Virtual memory allows the hard drive to act as RAM. This will slow your computer down ALOT becuase your hard drive is ALOT slower than RAM I hope I have answered any questions Do this though: 1. right click on My computer and hit propterties 2. Note how much RAM you have on your system wng
1. Click on start (located on the lower left hand corner of your screen)
2. Click on My Computer
3. double click on c:
4. find the folder called "Program files" and double click that folder
5.In the program files folder, click the file menu, then click new->folder
6.Name the folder HJT
7.Look below to my signature :weee: Click on the link named "hijack this"
8. If it asks you if you want to run, save, or cancel the file click save
9. Browse to this location: c:/program files/HJT and save the file there
10. When the download is complete, go to c:/program files/hjt and extract the folder.
11.delete the zipped folder. You will not need it anymore.

When that is done, run Hijack This and post a new log.
Good luck,
wng
