Resource hog that launches common MS Office components to help speed up the launch of Office programs. Some users claim there's no difference with or without it but it isn't required anyway.
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE

With all other programs and browsers closed, click fix checked.

Step 2
Please set your computer to show all files.

* Double-click My Computer.
* Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
* Click the View tab.

* Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
* Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
* Click Apply, and then click OK.

Step 3
Please delete the following file:

C:\winnt\system32\eliteljs32.exe

Step 4
Reboot normally and scan with HijackThis. Post the new log as a reply to this thread.
Please let us know of any complications and how the computer is behaving.
Hi, Alan!

Thanks for your help! :)

I removed O2/3/4 per your suggestion. Seems OK now (fingers crossed!).

When I went into another account on the same computer, the elitebar pop-ups comes back, so I did the same thing. This time, I find quite a few elite*** files in the system32 directory, so I deleted them. Should I be doing this for all the accounts on this computer?

Then MS AntiSpyware prompted me whether to allow the following ActiveX downloads. Since I don't know what they are, so I block them:
{205FF73B-CA67-11D5-99DD-444553540006}
{2359626E-7524-4F87-B04E-22CD38A0C88C}
{D54160C3-DB7B-4534-9B65-190EE4A9C7F7}

Another thing is that I've set a nightly schedule to scan for spyware using MS AntiSpyware, and it still find SearchMiracle.EliteBar.

Attached is the new Logfile. Thanks.

Ling

Your new log is clean.:)

Please post a log from another account on your computer. I'll go over it and let you know if anything needs fixed. Than you can post account until all are done. :)

I suggest that you get these programs to help keep the computer clean:

Spyware Blaster - Blocks bad ActiveX items from installing on your computer.
SpywareGuard - Real-time protection from spyware installation attempts
ie-spyad - Puts over 8,000 bad URLs into your restricted sites for Internet Explorer.
Google Toolbar - Blocks many unwanted pop-ups in Internet Explorer.
Firefox - Safer alternative to the Internet Explorer web browser.

AVG AntiVirus - Free antivirus program if you currently are not using one.
ZoneAlarm - Free firewall program if you currently are not using one.

Update these regularly.

You may also want to read "How did I get infected in the first place" to learn how to better secure your computer.

Be sure to keep Windows and your Anti-virus updated.
Finally, clean on this account, all thanks to you! :D

Now, I'm posting the log for Administrator account (see below). At the same time, I'm installing Spyware Blaster. Do I need to do so for every account?

You only need it on one account.

For the administrator account.

Step 1
Download CWShredder.exe to your desktop from one of these places:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=3019
http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract/cwshr…r_download.html

Step 4
Scan with HijackThis and post the new log as a reply to this thread.
Hi, Alan

I've installed Spyware Blaster and CWShredder.exe for the administrator account. CWShredder.exe didn't find anything.

Task Manager did have gcasServ.exe and gcasDtServ.exe, so I've ended them per your instruction.

Also, I've removed the following:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = http://searchmiracle.com/sp.php
O16 - DPF: {3FE16C08-D6A7-4133-84FC-D5BFB4F7D886} -

Nothing bad there. Just a little cleanup. :)

This program is running from a Temp directory which are regularly cleaned up. If you intend to keep it, I recommend moving it to a permanent location.
