Hey everyone! I really need some help.

I've tried the elitebar removal tool in safemode, I've run multiple spyware software programs and I'm stuck. I noted many people have posted hijack this info and so I have downloaded that and will include the log here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Please download miekiemoes' LQfix batch here:
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/LQfix.zip
Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, please run LQfix.bat. When finished, restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis
OK, ran LQfix in safe mode again, here is the log file:

Then reboot.
  • Download FindIt NT-2K-XP.
  • Unzip the contents of FindIt NT-2K-XP.zip to a convenient location.
  • Navigate to the FindIt NT-2K-XP directory.
  • Double-click on FindNarrator.bat and wait for it to run. It will take several minuites. (at least 10)
  • It should open a Notepad window with the FindNarrator log.
  • Post the contents of FindNarrator.txt into your next post. AS well as a new hijackthis log.
On reboot prior to running Findit NT-2k-XP I noted the toolbar was gone from internet explorer and for the first time in a while I did not have two explorer windows open on startup. It also appears that the pop-ups have stopped for the time being. I started FindIt and it has been running for an hour. I am debating leaving it run while I go to bed… Either way, I will post results of hijackthis in the morning and if FindIt manages to finish, I will post those results as well. Finally, a little hope that this situation will get resolved. I had run into a missing Kernal32 error earlier today, it seems that has gone away as well. I will keep you posted as I try to run some additional programs tomorrow.
Ok, FindIt is still running…
Here is a new Log from hijackthis:

So far so good…a little slow, but this is my work computer and I expected that. Hard to believe they roll out a new Dell computer with Windows 2k on it. Apparently some of the companies proprietary software will not work on XP. Funny that I got the EliteBar on the cpu after I got it back from home office…I believe it ended up on the computer while they had it…that's why I have been trying to fix it myself. I will run Lavasoft's Adaware, Spybot, etc. to clean the rest up and see if that helps some. Any other suggestions for me?
If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. In my signature below is also a tutorial on how to harden IE, a good read and very helpful to stop these things in the future. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on.

Safe Surfing. :D
I have been running spywareblaster on my personal PC, but haven't gotten it onto this one for work yet. I will update this CPU with the programs you mentioned. Thank you so much for all your help, that was the worst spyware I had run into to date. I will likely pass on your recommendations to some of my compatriots along with the address for this site. You have been a tremendous help.
