I really hope someone can tell me what has to go I've going at this problem for 2 Days solid…Waste of days Off.. Is it possible that the about:blank spyware can also keep disabeling my McAfee Virus scan or has it allowed something else into my system. I've had my 'putor for 1 year and this is the 1st trouble I've had. This is my hijckthis log. Thanks

Welcome to the forum.
Please move HJT into a folder so backups can be made. Suggest:
C:\Documents and Settings\Grant Poirier\Desktop\MyHJT\HijackThis.exe

Download and unzip the KillBox to a folder - we'll use it later.


Close ALL programs down, leaving only HijackThis running.
Place a check against the following items:

O2 - BHO: QuickSearch Search Bar - {82315A18-6CFB-44a7-BDFD-90E36537C252} - C:\Program Files\QuickSearch\QuickSearchBar1_27.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

Open up the KillBox and copy and paste each one of these in and hit delete:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mshelp32.exe
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\slihkkgf.exe

Then find and delete this folder:

C:\Program Files\QuickSearch

Clean out temporary and TIF files. Go to Start > Run and type in the box: cleanmgr. Let it scan your system for files to remove. Make sure these 3 are checked and then press *ok* to remove:

Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

Reboot and post a fresh HJT log and lets see how we did, MrC

Just to clean up a bit.

Close ALL programs down, leaving only HijackThis running.
Place a check against the following items:

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

The KillBox creates a folder called !Submit in C:\, find it and delete it.
