I ran hijack this and saved the log to my desktop. what do i do next. I have a trojan or virus that has taken over my home page. I keep getting pornography and other trash taking over my computer. With two kids at home I want to get rid of this immediately.
I have a problem with popups whenever i connect to the net. There are also 7 folders added to my favorites, adult dating, credit cards, games, health, free stuff, get cash fast, links and there are two other things herbalphentermine and custom.marketwatch. I have no idea how this started. I have run norton anti-virus, ad-aware, spoybot, coolweb shredder and spykiller 2005. None of them have seemed to help. I ran the hijack this and saved the log file to my desttop. I have no idea what to do next. Thanks

I have tried a few things and here is the new hijack this log. PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Hello again “sharktooth”

Please don't open anymore threads.
We will help you here.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s).

(1)
Your copy of HijackThis needs to be in a folder of it's own. When HJT fixes anything, it makes backups of the original files in the folder it is in. For this reason it cannot be run from a Zip file or from Temporary folders because the backups will be deleted. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

1. Please go to you're 'My Documents' folder, right-click and select 'New > Folder' then name the folder 'HJT'.

2. Copy and paste HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

3. Close ALL windows except HJT

4. SCAN with HJT

5. POST the new log in this thread using 'Add Reply'

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS SOME OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO YOUR COMPUTER'S HEALTH

(2)
Go here for free Online Trojan scan at http://www.trojanscan.com
If there should be anything found that it couldn’t clean, please WRITE DOWN the FULL PATHS AND FILENAMES.

(3)
Go here and run online scans (all), allow them to delete whatever they find:(All are available on-line)(do a search in your browser if your unsure how to get there.)

TrendMicro HouseCall
eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
Panda ActiveScan
Note any thing that can't be fixed
Reboot when done.

(4)
Make sure you have the up-to-date versions of Spybot and Ad-aware. (All are free and available below).(My signature)

Download Spybot, install and update. Then download Ad-aware, install, and update.

Spybot:

Install the program and launch it.

Go to Start > Programs >Spybot > Search & Destroy and choose Spybot S&D

Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
Click the button to "Search for Updates" and download and install the Updates.
Next click the button "Check for Problems"
When Spybot is complete, it will be showing "RED" (RED) entries "BLACK" entries and "GREEN" (GREEN) entries in the window
Put a check mark beside the RED (RED) entries ONLY.
Choose "Fix Selected Problems" and allow Spybot to fix the RED (RED) entries.

Ad-Aware FULL SCAN:

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

From main window :Click Start then under Select a scan Mode check Perform full system scan.
Next deselect Search for negligible risk entries.
Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.(Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)

(5)
Empty Recycle Bin

(6)
Once done reboot into Normal Mode Rescan and post a new HijackThis log file to confirm what was removed and if it's clean or not. Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Marty
well my computer totally crashed over the weekend and I ended up doing a full format. That kinda sucked but my problem was definitely solved. It was my very last choice, but the virus I had shut down my anti-virus and firewall protection. At the advise of Norton and Dell formatting was my only answer when my windows .ini files got corrupted. and I was left hanging in the wind without any protection. Thanks for your time and efforts.
