I mentioned this issue in another thread and was directed here to address it. I am signed up to be automatically notified when someone posts to a thread that I have subscribed to by posting or by selecting to follow that thread. I receive notices for some replies, but not for others. I was not even notified that there had been a reply in the thread that directed me here and I had posted several times in that thread. I rechecked my settings and they are still set up to notify me... Any ideas on what the problem might be???

Ive seen that problem to at Invision Power Board's
an mentioned it,, all that was said (so far) is read about it here,,
It still happens so I use the view todays active topics and every once and awhile
search for my name and take a peak to make sure I haven't passed one by.
seams like the board thinks Ive seen a reply so no email
maybe I was to close to it or something :)

This board can notify you when a new reply is added to a topic. Many users find this useful to keep up to date on topics without the need to view the board to check for new messages.

There are three ways to subscribe to a topic:
Click the 'Track This Topic' link at the top of the topic that you wish to track

On the posting screen when replying to or creating a topic, check the 'Enable email notification of replies?' checkbox

From the E-Mail settings section of your User CP (My Controls) check the 'Enable Email Notification by default?' option, this will automatically subscribe you to any topic that you make a reply to

Please note that to avoid multiple emails being sent to your email address, you will only get one e-mail for each topic you are subscribed to until the next time you visit the board.

You are also able to subscribe to each individual forum on the board, to be notified when a new topic is created in that particular forum. To enable this, click the 'Subscribe to this forum' link at the bottom of the forum that you wish to subscribe to.

To unsubscribe from any forums or topics that you are subscribed to - just go to the 'Subscriptions' section of 'My Controls' and you can do this from there.

edit for slplel check

Thanks for the response... I had read that help file and have done what it says to do to get notified, but the notices are missing a fair amount of the time. I don't usually have time to peruse all the forums, so it may be a week before I find out about a response when this happens and this makes it harder for me to use the class effectively..... Sounds like I may just have to live with it.... :(

Hello again, the problem I talked about persists, I still don't receive notice of a number of threads I am subscribed to. I have made up for this a bit by checking the View New Posts regularly when I log in, but I am finding that this doesn't always work well either. I just logged on after several hours and had a bunch of email notices about threads I am subscribed to being active. I checked them out and then went to View New Posts and found that only 3 came up, even though I had just looked at 6 or 7 new ones. This means that I can't even rely on that feature to check for posts I have missed. Another thing that might be related is that I have noticed several times when I am viewing a thread that the count on the bottom that usually says I am present, as well as how many other people are viewing that thread, often does not list me and will sometimes say that no one is viewing it if no one else is there at the same time. Somehow I am invisible to the system. Any ideas about why this is happening and if it has anything to do with the main issue?? The other thing that might be relevant is that I recently discovered that there are a lot of animated gifs around here. I logged in from work and all sorts of things started moving that I didn't know moved. I am assuming this is because my security settings at home are blocking animations from running, but I am wondering if it has anything to do with the first problem????

Don't feel left out.. I had subscribed to this thread when I saw Adshield
mentioned
Here n-i and spyware-info all use the same message board software
http://forums.spywar...view=getnewpost

and even after replying to it later I never did get any email notifications
should have been at-least three,, I can attempt to resubscribe but it says i am already, yet in control panel does not show that thread

Looking at subscriptions at n-i a couple days ago it was empty today its not..
though I usually do(i think) get the emails,, there atleast,, go figure
The other problem (view todays active topics)is a cookie issue you think ? keep them rather than logging in again
????
Regards

Lonny

I do keep cookies.... The only times that I have to log in are when I log out so that I can see all of the recent posts when it is clear that I missed a whole bunch of them or when the board mysteriously logs me out, sometimes while I am already on and looking at a post.... I am over at PCGuide a lot and occasionally it will log me out for no apparent reason, but it is very reliable about notitfying me that subscriptions are active....

Okay, I just got home after not being on since last night. I had email notices for about 6 threads and one new thread. I read those and clicked on View New Posts and got 4 threads, including the one I had just responded to. This is really frustrating and makes it much harder for me to use this forum. I don't know how many users have replied to posts I have left asking for them to post a followup log and then never got a response from me because I wasn't notified that they had responded. I have to search through each individual forum to see what is new or I have to log out and view all new threads for the day... Either way it is a hassle.... Is there anyone in charge reading this and, if so, do you have any idea of what is wrong or what I can do to fix it???????

are we reading this? yes do we have an answer right now? no before clicking on links to your email, come here, choose to view new posts, leave that page be go to your email and copy the links, open a new window and paste those links in so that the view new posts page is left alone when you go to read the new posts, open each link in a new window and close that new window when you are done with that link let me know if this tedious procedure helps even in the slightest....

Thanks for the reply.... I will try what you are suggesting. What I do now is that I open each thread in a different tab so that I may have several tabs open at the same time. I will often click on View New Posts from the first tab opened and read, then keep that open while I am reading the others. Today I did that, but then noticed that the search responded that it didn't work after I had read several other threads. I tried the View New Posts search again and that is when I got the 4 posts one the search... I'll let you know what I find out doing it the other way...

An update: I have been searching View New Posts after I read my first message and before opening any other messages. This seems to produce a full list and I am able to come back to it after I view other threads I am subscribed to. I am able to open the other threads in separate tabs without impacting this... I can't tell if I am getting notice of all subscribed threads or not, I don't remember noticing any in the last 2 days.... I am still invisible on some threads. I will look to see if anyone else is looking at the thread before I start analyzing the log so that I don't step on anyone's toes and I notice that it says there are 0 users viewing the thread at that time. No members, no guests... just ZERO.... Maybe I have finally achieved a state of total anonymity in browsing for at least select threads....

Yet another update: I open the first post that I have been notified about and, after reading it, I click on View New Posts. This opens a list of about 3 pages usually. From that point, I believe even if I leave for a while and come back again, it gives me the full list. Later into the evening it may give me the more recent shortened list if I have been off for quite a while. I am still not receiving notice of all threads I am subscribed to, including some of the Class threads. I remain concerned that I may be missing responding to people I am trying to help. I have not tried to do anything to fix the animations on the site and I continue to see only static figures. And, of course, I continue to be invisible in some threads... Any further thoughts??? My main worry now is that I may not be responding to people who are waiting to hear back from me....
