Mucho Ad Pop-ups

I've run Spybot S&D 1.3, but to no avail. I keep getting pop-up ads, and the main culprits seem to be ads234.com and http://64.95.76.7/adview.asp.

Any help would be much appreciated - I'm about ready to reformat the machine!

Thanks, Carl.

Welcome to the forum. :D

Please do the following,

Step #1

You have a peper infection that we need to remove

http://www.memorywatcher.com/uninst.exe

When you run the uninstaller, you MUST have an internet connection active for it to work

This Peper removal tool only works if run twice. To complete each stage of the Peper removal you need to REBOOT to clear the peper infection each time you run the tool, or the infection will remain.

Then reboot and post a new hijackthis log please.
Thank you for your suggestion - I only just now returned from a long weekend, and have had the chance to implement it.

I ran the uninstaller twice, and rebooted after each running of it. The resultant log is:

Siggyx,

Thanks for taking me under your wings. I did as you suggested, and the result is fewer popups, but not total eradication (for a while, I thought all was okay, but then one popped up when I was on google's site).

I'm still getting pop-ups, but they are much rarer than before.

The most recent one was a screen filled with various money making offers (free gap $50 shopping card, make money working at home, claimed unclaimed money, etc). The bar at the bottom of the popup had this message: "This is an EARN commercial offer and is not sponsored or displayed by the websites you are visiting."

I tried to click on one of the make money links, but the popup then closed without opening the link.

I believe you may have done it. I deleted the entries/files you recommended, and after a couple of reboots, they haven't showed back up. More important, thus far no popups after numerous searches, closing, and re-opening the web browser!

Looks good :D

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. In my signature below is also a tutorial on how to harden IE, a good read and very helpful to stop these things in the future. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on.

Safe Surfing. :D
Glad we could help.
