First off, can someone please explain to me what the "generic host process for win32 services" is? I run ZoneAlarm firewall, and i see that under the process running... I also see two of these... ???

"Windows 2000/XP only. SVCHOST is a generic process which acts as a host for other processes running from DLLs. Depending on the configuration of your system there may be more than one instance of SVCHOST showing in the Task List.

Recommendation :
An integral part of the operating system, leave alone"

It seems you have to allow access, or you can't go online (broadband), But not to act as server.

Hope this helps..

PS:Some info from Blackviper
