Hello I was hoping I could get some help here. I have recieved great help here before and am very thankfull for it, however this time it seems like I can't even get a response. I could really use some help as I do work from home. Thank you in advance…. My pc is running really slow and I am having problems connecting with my Verizon DSL thru IE 6.0. I installed AOL and used a dialup just to download all of the programs sugested here in the forum. Ad Aware, CW Shredder, Hijackthis, Spybot S&D. Ran PC online virus by Miro Trends and it came up clean. However I did run another one http://www.mwti.net/antivirus/free_utilities.asp and it showed problems however I would have to buy the program to fix it. The thing I don't understand is that on the home page it claims to be FREE program. Anyway it's not so much the money as it was so confusing to try and figure out which one I should download as there are about 15 programs offered. I have included my Hyjack log and would be ever gratefull if someone could have a look and tell me if they see a problem. looking forward to your response. Ron

Doesn't look good. Don't think I'd by it ;)

Try firefox may improve you speed.

Please read through the ideas and free software listed below that will help to keep your computer clean.
Some of these you may already have installed or may have done already.

Install a firewall.ZoneAlarm FREE

Ensure that an Antivirus is updated weekly and running. AVG antivirus from Grisoft is a very good FREE antivirus program.

Make sure you have the latest critical updates from windows update.

SpywareBlaster will prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.

IE-SPYAD puts over 4000 known 'bad' sites into your IE restricted zone so that they cannot install malware on your PC.

Google toolbar has a very good built in popup blocker with a nice search bar. To provide privacy, select disable advanced features when installing.

Check your system for latest virus definitions with an online virus scan every week or two.
TrendMicro HouseCall
eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
Panda ActiveScan

Check your system for latest trojan definitions with an Online trojan scan also every week or two.

And also see this link for additional security information.
So how did I get infected in the first place?

Please consider using Firefox
http://texturizer.net/firefox/index.html

Please read this
The only thing I see is,

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IPInSightLAN 01] "C:\PROGRAM FILES\VERIZON ONLINE\VISUAL IP INSIGHT\IPClient.exe" -l

Your copy of HijackThis needs to be in a folder of it's own. When HJT fixes anything, it makes backups of the original files in the folder it is in. Since Temporary folders are emptied now and then (the files are DELETED), it would not be a good idea to have your backups there. Those backups would be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

1. Please go to you're 'My Documents' folder, right-click and select 'New > Folder' then name the folder 'HJT'.

2. Copy and paste HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

3. Close ALL windows except HJT

4. SCAN with HJT

5. POST the new log in this thread using 'Add Reply'
Thanks so much for taking a look at this mess. Do you see anything in this log that I should remove? Thank you in advance Ron D

Close all Browser and Program Windows and have HijackThis fix the following.
Do this by checking the box beside each and then clicking on Fix checked.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IPInSightLAN 01] "C:\PROGRAM FILES\VERIZON ONLINE\VISUAL IP INSIGHT\IPClient.exe" -l

Reboot afterwards in SAFE MODE. If you don't know how click here
Delete the following file(s) and folder(s) listed

C:\PROGRAM FILES\VERIZON ONLINE\VISUAL IP INSIGHT\IPClient.exe<<

Some of these files and folders might have the hidden atribute
How to show hidden files and folders in Windows Instructions here

Then Download System Security Suite. Extract it from the zip file into a folder.
http://www.igorshpak.net/software/3ssetup104.zip
Under "items to clear" click all. Then click "clear selected items"
Hello This file O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IPInSightLAN 01] "C:\PROGRAM FILES\VERIZON ONLINE\VISUAL IP INSIGHT\IPClient.exe" -l Should I deleate this file? I do use verizon DSL and normaly my hompage would be the Verizon Site… Thanks again
Installed with Verizon DSL accounts. IP Insight is a Quality of Service monitor and diagnostic tool that isn't required. This one constantly "phones home" and wastes resource. Hence the bad status.
Hello again! OK I did what you recommended and here is the latest HJ log. Please let me know what you think about this one. I want to thank you so much for taking the time to help me with this problem. I really do appreciate your help!! Ron
