Logon Fatal Error Xp Home

I had recently worked on removing a virus from my computer. Having had success, I then worked on it all day, trying different users and rebooting the computer several times. At the end of the night my computer started to boot up but upon entering the account name screen the monitor showed a black screen then blue screen with the message Fatal error---The windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly Can someone help with this issue? Thanks
