The worm:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\wuamgrd.exe

The explanation:

http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyc…DBOT.MU&VSect;=T

Please try these free online virus scans of your system:

Trend-Micro:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

Panda:
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

Etrust:
http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx

Let them remove any infections found. Reboot inbetween each scan.

Afterwards, reboot and post a new log file. There are other "suspicious" entries we may need to explore. :)
ok done, but trendicro housecall that seems to be able to clear it doesn't work !….."error cannot read virus pattern"!. The others find nothing.
Should I try to remove it manually?
Also mind that dailin.exe file, that is where spybot was originally.
I have already used stinger, CWshredder, clnsasser and other fix tools and managed to clear Gaobot, Korgo, Sdbot.worm, Rbot.worm, sasser etc along with on line scans. I hope it's all gone for good. Furthermore I downloaded all critical windows updates. In safe mode I did a NAV scan and came up with nothing.

I'm lost…what's next?

thanx….. :)

hallo
I don't know what time it is there but here it is pretty late and I got to travel tomorrow.
It was a mess right?
well…right in business..all suggested items fixed, but in safe mode only dailin.exe was found. The others weren't there. I deleted dailin.exe. Notice that I tried earlier and manually removed in safe mode wuamgrd.exe register keys (in local machine and current user/software/microsoft/windows/current version/run and run services. Is that ok or should I worry?

THANK YOU AGAIN AND AGAIN

P.S. still got the crave for baklava?

Excellent work!!!!

The log is free of malware.

Removing the registry keys for wuamgrd.exe was OK.

When you looked for the files to delete did you have windows set to show "hidden" files? Use the link in my signature to tell how to show "hidden" files if necessary.

I just noticed something…. Are there TWO antivirus programs running?

If so, that's NOT a good idea. I've been told that the best thing to do is uninstall the last one installed.

Other than that, I'd say you're doing alright.

Here's my list of things to consider to help prevent future infections.

Items you may wish to consider to harden your defenses against future infections:

Read "How did I get infected in the first place?" here:

http://boards.cexx.org/viewtopic.php?t=957

Download IE-Spyad here:

https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm

IE-Spyad puts over 4000 known malicious web sites into IE's "restricted zone" to help prevent you from getting infected.

Check your browser settings here:

http://browsercheck.qualys.com/index.php

A series of "tests" (and suggested fixes) to help tweak IE's settings to help prevent infections when surfing the web.

Follow safe Internet practices:

1. Keep your virus definitions up to date, and scan your system regularly.

2. Don't open email, or download attachments from unrecognized email addresses.

3. Be careful when downloading email attachments, EVEN FROM PEOPLE YOU KNOW! Many virii, worms, and trojans infect a persons system then immeadiately spread themselves to the people in the infected persons addressbook via email attachments.

4. Be careful downloading files from the Internet. Scan all downloaded files with a reliable UP-TO-DATE antivirus program. Scan "zip" files BEFORE unzipping, and scan all unzipped files BEFORE USING THEM.

5. Keep your Windows and IE current with all the latest patches and updates.

thank you! yes I think I had show hidden files on and system restore off but I am not apsolutely certain, better check again. I have NAV pro 2004 and AVG 6.0 free edition installed, makes me feel safe, furthermore AVG spotted viruses that NAV missed. Should I really uninstall AVG? Why is it bad? Will do if I have to, anyway. I think that's all for now. Thank you again for your valuable help. Much appreciated. :wavey:
