Symptoms I have had is at first, I thought my power button was beginning to fail. So I started using SLEEP mode to avoid using the power button. Then it began to not wake up from SLEEP.
The screen background went white. My mouse no longer functioned.
CTRL-ALT-DEL did not work. Holding the power button down had no effect.
After one hour, it came out of it's coma and shut down. I went for a second cup of coffee and cam back and his the power button. Nothing. Took another 30 minutes or so so complete the restart. I went to google, slowly it came up.

Well, peachy_dar,

It does look like you've stumped our experts so far.  However, based upon your other thread, it appears that you have found a work around by replacing the laptop. :)

YOU WOULD BE CORRECT!!

Altho I really didn't want to buy a new computer, you know what that means!!!  A lot of work!!  The first Asus was great!  Never gave me any trouble for 5 years.  Of course buying a new computer does solve the problem!!

I do have on issue with the new Ausus which I will describe:

Upon purchase of this new Asus, I enabled a fingerprint log in.  that lasted 2 days, now I type in a 4 digit code.  I would like to know where my fingerprint log in went, and how do I bring it back?

I know this is not a malaware issue, I just want it back.

thank you guys for helping me, Juliet tried her damdest to help me!!

Merry Christmas!!

Give this a try...

Go to settings > update & security > troubleshoot > hardware and devices

Hopefully the troubleshooter will find the error that is not letting the fingerprint scanner operate, and fix it.
