I came here to ask for help and for some reason I can't download either of the two programs, at the beginning of the instructions for starting a topic. It goes to the sites and when I clicked the download bar to run, it looks like it's downloading but then the bar says it could not download, a small window pops open saying Internet Explorer has stopped working, then it all restarts and the bar asks if I want to restore my last browser session, and it all starts over. Please if there is anything anyone can do for me I would greatly appreciate any help of info. Thank you.

:welcome:

Read over these instructions and try using a different browser to download FRST, if its still a no go then read the instructions and let me know what Operating System your running and if its 32 or 64 bit and I can download it my self and attach it in a reply

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your DESKTOP<<<<<<

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

How to determine whether a computer is running a 32-bit version or 64-bit version of the Windows operating system
A simple way to check your system: Start –> Computer (right click) –> Properties

  •
  • Right click to run as administrator (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File). When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Just keep the defaults as in the picture checkmarked
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Please copy and paste log back here.
  • The first time the tool is run it generates another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST.exe/FRST64.exe). Please also paste that along with the FRST.txt into your reply.

I tried downloading Farbar Recovery Scan Tool  using Google Chrome instead of Internet Explorer, still no go. It won't work for some reason. As far as my system, we're using Windows 7 Ultimate and it says it's a 32-bit Operating System. Thanks for replying so soon.

Hi,

I am going to attach the 32 bit version of FRST, just follow the instructions in my previous post to run the scan and post the logs.  All our tools and scanners work more efficiently if there downloaded and run from the Desktop in lieu of being run from a folder.  I am going to have to zip the FRST file, just download it to your desktop and then right click on it and select Extract. The first time FRST is run you will get 2 logs, FRST and Additions, post them both please by copying and pasting them into this thread, please do not attach them. Take your time, been a long day I will be back in the am.
