Symptom: Blinking Windows and Drop down menus disappearing

I am running Windows 8.1 and am having trouble with blinking "windows", characters dropped while typing, drop-down menus disappearing before selection can be made.  I have been working with an Security Expert with Spybot and currently have a forum thread open there. It can be seen at this link - http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?71908-Banyan-Malware-can-not-be-removed-by-system.  We can not find a virus after many many scans.  Windows Repair from Tweaking seems to fix problems temporarily but the symptoms returned within 24 hours.  We are wondering if this may be a hardware problem?

Has anyone seen this before?

It may be wise to consider refreshing your computer to see if this does the trick for you.

Sounds like a bad keyboard or mouse. Anything spilled on it recently?  Laptop / desktop?  Have you tried a different keyboard / mouse?
