Hi

I got a strange problem with my local network. All of a sudden there was no connection, and when I looked in the list of networks, I found that my house connection was listed twice. Spooky. Same name, same everything, except whenever I tried to connect one of them, it would be a secured network, as it is, and its "twin" would be unsecured and vice versa. In the list of networks in control panel, tough, there would only be one. When I then connected to the router via a cable, it worked.

I am mystified and would be very grateful for some advice.

By the way, I was in a thread here a couple of months ago (spyware forums) - and at a certain point, I was unable to continue because the post  option had disappeared altogether! I tried on completely independent computers as well, but in the end, I gave it up, and the thread was closed. This just as an explanation - and also a question. I would get this message about a javascript not responding, and I simply couldn't get through..

Does the problem occur on more than one computer or device?  Or, have you only tested for this behavior on the single computer you referenced above?

Have you made any changes to the settings on your router?  Have you tried to power cycle it?

In regards to your posting problems, if your computer is infected it is going to be unpredictable.  There is no other answer than to get it clean.  This may even be why you are having wireless issues.

I haven't tried other devices myself, but a friend used a tablet without problems. The thing is, though, that it comes and goes. I last had the problem 2 days ago, so I'm not completely sure about if it affects other devices. I 'll have to check it, if/when it happens again. The router is new, and I haven't been into it at all. How can it be, that it works with a cable and not WiFi, I'm also wondering? I don't know, what power cycle is, could you tell me?

Regarding my posting problems, they seemed to be independent of my computer, as I tried in an internetcafe, and exactly the same thing happened.

If it's any clue, this is the message, I got:

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue.

Script: http://cdn.viglink.com/api/vglnk.js:27

And  the line in the script, which is highlighted:

"function"===b.type(a.preventDefault)&&a.preventDefault(),a.returnValue):d})()},this));h=b.entryPoint(function(){if(a.enabled())return e.apply(null,b.toArray(arguments).concat(g||[]))});c.addEventListener?c.addEventListener(d,h,!1):c.attachEvent&&c.attachEvent("on"+d,h)}}}(),position:function(a,c){var d,e=0,g=0,l=0,h=0;c=c||document;if(!b.isInDom(a))return!1;d=a;do e+=d.offsetLeft,g+=d.offsetTop,d=d.offsetParent;while(d);d=a;do l+=d.scrollLeft,h+=d.scrollTop,d=d.parentNode;while(d&&d!==c.body);return{x:e-

As for now, I have the posting option as usual.
