I have a OptiPlex 755 SFF that I installed a new I/O panel & motherboard. With the new I/O panel, when I turn the machine on  the fan races out of control. I tried another I/O panel and it did the same thing. A third I/O panel I tried got the fan speed right but the on/off switch wouldn't work. Does anyone know what the problem is? I've done these before and never had this problem

bit confused what exactly is this i/o panel you keep changing that is somehow connected to a fan (what fan?)

on/off switch for what doesn't work on it? pc on/off switch i'd expect to be on the case not on any i/o panel so no idea what this on/off switch is for on the i/o panel.

when a pc starts up it is usual for some fans to run at 100% for a second or so until everything is loaded.

if the cpu fan carries on running at 100% then i'd think you have a temperature problem so need to take the heatsink off and clean everything then re-apply thermal paste and the heatsink again and see if this stops the fan running at 100%.
