Word 2007 Freezes Often

I've seen this topic b4 but nothing seems to cover my situation, perhaps. I have Word 2007, Windows 7. When I try to save a file, very often, not always but most of the time, Word just freezes. It doesn't access the HD, just sits there and of course if I click on the screen it goes gray. I deleted normal.dotm but that didn't make a difference. If I try to access the Word Options same thing often happens. The system doesn't seem to have any other problems. I check events but there's nothing. I have AVG Anti-Virus running. RonNYC
