Your registry is corrupt. This could be caused by incorrectly shutting down the computer, or by hard drive failure. Chances are it is the latter. Before doing anything further, you should consider if you have any important data on your computer. If you do, then there is no better advice I can give you then to immediately shut down the computer and take it to a qualified professional that can properly diagnose the hard drive and recover your data before it is completely lost. Otherwise…. After startup repair fails to correct the problem you will be given additional options. Choose the option to try a system restore. Try to restore your computer to a few days prior. This may recover your registry. However, if the hard drive is failing it will only get worse. You should run a surface test on your hard drive. To do so you can open the command prompt (either from the recovery console like you mentioned above, or after windows is running) and type CHKDSK /R. Let it run and be patient. It takes a long time. If you see messages about bad clusters, then your hard drive is most likely dieing.
