This is so strange, when i take a screenshot, it looks fine, but in real life, its all glitchy! Please help!
I hate to say it, but I fear the monitor is on the way out, I have just had an identical (by the sounds of your description) situation here, and if yours is going the same route (mine was also a Samsung) it will get worse, the screen will get even funkier, and mine even started blue screening my system.
This is something that makes little sense to many, it does not make sense how it could cause this, but all I can say is when I put my new monitor on everything behaved, no messed up displays, blinking, or blue screening, I have no explanation as to why etc, but this is what happened in my case, Here are some pic's of my display at it's worst, you can see if yours compares to this.

Now it "could" be something else at fault, but having just had a monitor pull such stunts as yours appears to be starting to, I fear the worst, now there are a few things to try if you have the spare parts, if you can hook the monitor up to another system see if it behaves on that, I was fortunate to be upgrading my graphics card at the time this happened to me, if you have a spare card it would be wise to try this to see what happens.
Mainly because the issues your having are video related, so proving the card would be a great help, even try the original card in another system with the monitor if you can, it will help prove the card to be good or bad, but if you are able to do these tests, and it still plays up, it's a new monitor assuming I am right, wish I had better news, but see if these checks reveal anything, fingers crossed for you.
Hi Eric. Just before I saw 8210GUY's respnse to you I was going to suggest that you borrow a known good working VDU and try your computer with it connected…. If the problem goes away then it indicates that its a faulty VDU/Cable/connector…however if the problem continues then it points towards your graphics card and or its drivers…. Let us know how you get on Regards paws
Well my monitor is pretty old. Is there any monitors you guys would recommend? Something not too pricey, it does not have to be VERY good. I was thinking -100$ . Preferably from newegg since i have a promo code. Thanks!
Please do NOT rush out and buy a new monitor before trying to narrow down the possibility's, as I suggested above, and paws reinforced, just because I suspect yours may be going due to the similar circumstances you have described, we must ALWAYS try and eliminate any\all other possible causes, there is nothing worse than getting new hardware just to find the problem was elsewhere, now having spares to do the types of test we would recommend is something the average user will not have for this kind of situation, so it does make it harder. But that said, even if the only possibility you have is to ask a mate\neighbour if they would be willing to try your monitor on their system, and their monitor on your system, that should be the most apparent way to see where the fault lies, if on the monitor it will play up on another system, if it's your video card or leads then the monitor is fine, and you have just saved buying one for no reason, never buy anything until other possible causes are eliminated, but this simple swapping of monitors should be easily managed with the aid of a friend\neighbour, given how many have PC's these days, so try this first and go from there.
Yes that is another very real possible cause, and why we always suggest fully checking all that is possible before committing to spend money, as this is the last thing we want users to do, not unless they want to do it for their own reasons, or due to something actually needing replacing, you can use SpeedFan and see what that reports back, then see what that shows.
Sorry to hear that, I feared it was the case having just been through similar issues, but still hoped it would be a simpler\cheaper issue to resolve it, but as long as you are sure you have satisfied yourself it is the monitor itself, then the next question to ask yourself is what do you want to take it's place, often people take advantage of small upgrades at these times, eg a bigger screen or the like, but looking at your current one and the info you have given so far, this Asus is not a bad replacement for it (just got the VE247H myself for the same reason), but obviously make sure it has the connections you need, should you want to get something bigger\better just let us know and we will try and guide you.
Hi Eric
This is an extract from the link that 8210GUY provided….

With both D-Sub and DVI inputs, the ASUS VW199T-P is also…

But do check out carefully that the VDU you purchase has everything you need before parting with your cash!
Hope this helps. Regards

To add to what paws has quoted, if you click on the Details tab directly under the product image, it will give you a specific list of all it's features etc, but the only connection I see missing is HDMI, they clearly state it does not have this, but it has the rest, but as we have both stated above, do make sure it has all you need before ordering, but my guess is it does from what I can make out.
