Hi, Lately when I open my laptop and it wakes up from hibernation, I get a windows message saying something along these lines "Malware has been detected, Windows will now restart". I've scanned the system for viruses and I've run Adaware but nothing has come up. I've attached two screen shots of my processes in Task Manager. Can anyone help me? Many thanks 📎Capture1.JPG 📎Capture2.JPG

  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.txt and Extras.txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply. You may need two posts to fit them all in.

Next,

Please download aswMBR to your desktop.

  • Double click the aswMBR icon to run it.

Vista and Windows 7 users right click the icon and choose "Run as administrator".

  • When asked if you want to download Avast's virus definitions please select Yes.
  • Click the Scan button to start scan.
  • When it finishes, press the save log button, save the logfile to your desktop and post its contents in your next reply.

In your next reply please post:
  • OTL.txt
  • Extras.txt
  • aswMBR.txt
I tried to run OTL but it said "Your computer is infected with malware" and it shut down as it has done in the past. I will try to run it again
Hello adelaide

Print out these instructions as we may need to close every window that is open later in the fix.

Please download and run the following tool to help allow other programs to run. (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com)
There are 5 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
Note: Vista and Win7 users need to right click and choose Run as Admin
You only need to get one of them to run, not all of them.

  • rkill.exe
  • rkill.com
  • rkill.scr
  • WiNlOgOn.exe
  • uSeRiNiT.exe
Do not reboot your computer after running rkill as the malware programs will start again.

Once rkill is up and running, follow the given directions to run OTL, aswMBR, and post the results.
Hi,
I was able to run OTL. I've attached the files.
📎Extras.Txt
📎OTL.Txt

But I've tried running aswmbr twice and I've had the blue screen of death. Upon restart, this is the error I received:

  • If a reboot is required, the report can also be found in your root directory, (usually C:\ folder) in the form of "TDSSKiller.[Version]_[Date]_[Time]_log.txt".
  • Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.

Next,

If running the previous tool caused you to reboot, please get RKill up and running again, as before.

Next,

Please read through these instructions to familarize yourself with what to expect when this tool runs

Please download ComboFix from one of the following locations:

  • LINK 1
  • LINK 2
**IMPORTANT! Save ComboFix to your Desktop. Read the following thoroughly
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. Note: If you are having difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, or are unsure as to what programs need to be disabled, please refer to the information available through this link :How to Disable your Security Programs
  • Double click on 'ComboFix.exe' & follow the prompts.
  • Allow it to scan your machine for malware.

When finished, it will produce a log for you.
Please include the contents of C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:
1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
3. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making Internet Explorer the default browser.
4. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please let me know.
5. ComboFix disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before ComboFix completes its run. If ComboFix runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

In your next reply please post the logs created by TDSSKiller and ComboFix.
