They both connect through a linksys wireless router WRT54GS V7.2. They sit side by side on a desk too. I am lost. I have built a computer from parts about 12 years ago, ASUS mother board and installed the drivers and flashed the bios for it but…. This issue has me stumped. Vista machine is a Gateway. 7 machine is a Compaq. They don't seem to see each other. I have disabled the firewalls on both of them and still get no where. IP's are 192.168.1.101 and 102
Also, are you using Homegroup or WORKGROUP? Do both computers have the same userid and password? Can you ping each IP address?
Could be Homegroup on Win 7 and WORKGROUP on Vista. I've seen people try this before. Probably not though. Need to see what response I get to the questions I asked.
