Hey guyz, Recently bought a wireless Thomson Gateway Router, connected it finely to the home computer via an ethernet cable, and connected it easily to my laptop wirelessly. However, when it comes to connecting it wirelessly to my computer I cannot get any connections available. I've tried putting my laptop in the same spot where my tower was to see if it was the location as to why it wasn't finding any connections but the laptop still worked. Would anyone be able to aid me in fixing this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated Thank You =) Freakzsterz PS: the operating system is Windows 7
um…not sure what that part is sorry =( theres a Wireless LAN using Microsoft Virtual WiFi miniport Adaptor and a Wireless LAN 802.11n Wirelss Lan Card both of these things say they aren't connected and I don't know how to connect them >.< Yours Sincerely, Freakzster
do you see a wireless icon in the bottom right of your taskbar and if yes, do you see a list of detected wireless networks if you click on it?
ok first check your wireless adapters are working. Open Device Manager 1. Click the Start button Picture of the Start button, type "device manager" in the search box, and then, in the list of results, click Device Manager. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 2. Double-click Network adapters, and then right-click your network adapter. 3.Click Properties, and then, under Device status, check to see that the device is working properly. 4. If the network adapter is disabled, click Enable Device to enable it. if they are working try running the trouble shooter.. Open the Network troubleshooter by right-clicking the network icon in the notification area(bottom right of task bar), and then clicking Troubleshoot problems. see if that fixes things.
Tried them all including the troubleshoot. The troubleshoot was unable to fix the problem either. Thank you for trying though it was greatly appreciated =)
not finished yet.. :D did troubleshooter find a problem and couldn't fix it or did it find no problems? also can you go back into the device manager and then list what adapters are found there, also can you tell us how you installed the drivers for the wireless adapters, did win 7 do it automatically or do you have a cd with them on?
hey troubleshooter found a problem and couldnt fix them. also the adapters were already installed when i purchased the computer… the adapters found in device manager are 802.11n Wireless LAN card; and Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
ok lets re-install the drivers easiest way probably is if you can you connect that pc to the internet by wire then go into device manager again and uninstall the 802.11n wireless lan device(right click on it and uninstall) then reboot the pc and let windows find and re-install it, then see if it works now.
