I have this problem, that whenever i plug my Wifi key into my laptop through a USB extension cord (dont know what it's called) a small window pops up in the taskbar "usb device not recognized" .. i tried doing everything it told me, but nothing works. and when i plug the same usb key in without the extension cable it does nothing. doesn't load, respond. as if there was nothing there. any ideas why this might be happening ?
Hello wailo101, Sorry to hear that you're having problems. It could be that the Wifi dongle is faulty. The best way to check is by simply plugging it into someone else's computer. The other possibility is that the drivers are faulty. Did you install the drivers that came with the dongle (they should be on a CD) or did you download them manually from the manufacturer's website? Did the WiFi dongle work before and have you installed any new software, hardware or updates around the time it stopped working? Cheers,
