Ok, I hope there is some help here since nobody ever helped me on your chat.

I have had problems when I tried to open FINDER to look at the Document folder. The rainbow pops up trying to process or read something. This may last for 45+ minutes locking up my computer.
My files have been moved from Documents to the Music folder and the isolated the trouble files onto the desktop. The trouble files seem to be with something that starts with a R or S. I cannot open this as the rainbow immediately pops up spins locking me out again. Each time my only option to clearing that pop up rainbow is either to turn my computer off and on again, to get around the lock, or wait 45 min to 1 hour hoping it's cycled through whatever it's doing. Now I'm able to open finder but still have those trouble files active on my desktop awaiting to be addressed. I have also noticed occasional loud noises coming from my computer as if it is laboring, I have no idea what that's about. :smack:

There were problems with disk space. Currently, the remaining disk space shows half the usage still available. (I had deleted files in order to get it from the 97% saturation point down to 50%). And I had downloaded Adobe Reader's update during that time. I'm not sure if any of that had anything to add to my problems. Yes, I also emptied my trash can as I went along the way to free up disk space fearing not being able to open my computer if I didn't clear something out quick.

What can be done? Kindly give me your non-computer user (that's me  ) version of help as I will more than likely need additional guidance. I'm hoping not to have to reinstall my OS. I appreciate any help you may be able to provide as well as your patience. Thanks!
