I have been geting emails that are not for me. I find that these emails start with the first three letters of my email address, but they are all different aafter the first three letters and the majority have a different service provider address as well. Hoping somebody can help/ Many thanks
Sounds like simple spam, if the mails are for say drugs etc, then definitely spam, if it shows all the other recipients then again almost certainly spam, what I suggest is look through the other addresses and who it is from, see if there is an address you do recognise, if you do you can contact them and tell them they probably have an infection, and should run some scans to be safe, but ultimately once you're email address is on the spam list it only ever gets worse. Probably the only thing you can do is to set up a rule in you're mail client to filter such messages as soon as they come in, this will stop you seeing them, instead they will be put straight in you're spam folder, or deleted items, depends on you're client, and what you do, you can also get 3rd party clients that will sort you're mail for you, Mailwasher is what I use, it uses a database of known spam senders to refer to, if a mail comes from someone on the list it auto marks it as spam so you do not need to waste time looking at it, and you can add to friends spam or blacklist as appropriate, once done it will be pre marked accordingly by the software. The best bit is none of these ever touch you're system, they simply download a preview of the message in a text only format, then when you process the mail it gets rid of the junk and launches you're client to get the mail you do want, mind you if you use web mail not sure if this would be as much help, but I mention it incase, hope it helps.
