i got my copy of company of heroes back in 2008, i installed it and had a lot of fun playing it.
now i`m trying to install it again, but i can`t cus there is a messege poping up all the time. the message says: a newer version is already installed, if you want to install it go to add/remove and remove newer version.
(sorry for bad english…)
Maybe its still there and you can play from the original installation ???
Maybe it has been uninstalled, but remnants are still in place that interfere with a fresh installation? <– most likely.
If your old version still appears in Control Panel - Add/Remove, you "might" solve the problem by simply uninstalling and freshly installing.
However, I'd recommend that you download and install Revo Uninstaller.
The "free" version does a better job of uninstalling than the native MS Add/Remove.
If even that doesn't help, you may benefit from paying the modest fee for the premium version of Revo, which is touted as being able to find and remove remnants of already poorly uninstalled applications.
If that doesn't get it, then we'll need to do further investigation.
Let us know how you are progressing.
Best Regards

I recently tried the Pro version trial Doug and your use of the word "touted" was very appropriate. The program will not find remnants of un-installed programs, let alone remove them. I had 169 remnants of a Nero un-install and it never found one of them nor recognized nero was ever there.
Unless a program is there, correctly installed, just like with the free version, Revo Pro does not recognize it.
The Pro version has a few extra utilities that basically duplicate window tools like Disk Cleanup etc. and also a Reg Cleaner (I never used it) which is very likely to have something to do with their claim of un-installed program remnant removal, but without a registry search function.
For what it does, the free version is excellent value. The Pro version just adds an undesirable utility.
