Having no luck connecting to the internet with a new W7 install.
D-link 502T Modem.
The driver on the disk is rubbish and their latest driver for W7 I downloaded is poorly written software. I've put that driver in and out about 5 times, re-booting after every un-install and re-install. I just cant get it to go. I'm sure it's left over driver bits causing the problem.
Driver Sweeper is a waste of time as it does not even recognize the modem driver is there (it is).
Cheers,
Lee
Hi Lee, any reason why you are using USB (that needs a driver) when the data sheet that I have for this machine indicates it will take Ethernet connection ( Cat 5 cable etc) that doesn't need a driver?

I really hate it when programs like RegCleaner actually prove to be useful. They cause so many problems for the average user that I'd like them outlawed.
Lee, why not invest in a router? Then both of you can use Ethernet connections. I much prefer that to a USB connection. Added benifit, you get a good hardware firewall between you and the nasty world!

Nasty world? Oh you betcha. Something I did learn as a (beta) kid:
"Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I'm so glad I'm a Beta."
- Aldous Huxley, Brave New World.
Watch out for those nasty Epsilons, their all out their lurking at the gates of all our Firewalls
Cheers,
Lee
