Not only did your patient and comprehensive diagnostics and remedies totally FIX my basic problem as stated in the Topic Title above, but as a parallel result, my PC also reaped the additional benefits of faster operation in all aspects, i.e., Windows Explorer (loading, displaying, and navigation), Internet browsing, internet downloads and uploads, graphics editing, and much, much more! It's like a new machine!!! You fixed problems I didn't even know I had! And one that I knew I had, but never mentioned: my PC/sound card was playing several separate sound tracks that seemed as if from cable channels; one channel from the right speaker (a DisneyWorld travelog documentary in British accent), and random infomercials (American accent) from the left speaker. This audio occured spontaeously and randomly (on for a while, then off for a while, then back on). I was having to keep my audio control on permanent Mute. Grrrr… Now ALL GONE! Finally back to normal!!!!
