I am getting a message of 'not responding' on several different aspects on my pc.
It applies to documents, pictures, ie, oe, my computer, for example, I can open a document on a hard drive, but when I go to change anything in the document I get the 'not responding' message.
I have just tried to check a new external floppy drive and got a message of 'not responding' in 'my computer' window.
This will happen on different things about 60% of the time and sometimes won't right itself without restarting the pc. Even using task manager doesn't always stop it when it happens.
Is this a sign of virus/spyware/malware on my pc? I get a lot of tracking cookie found messages when opening ie, ebay, MS websites and each of them is different for each website, but always the same tracking cookie on a particular website, eg:
IE brings up revsci tracking cookie, MS brings up webtrends and ebay brings up tacoda. Every page on each of these websites bring up the same tracking cookie, not just the home page. (hope that makes sense).
I would be grateful for any suggestions to remedy this.
Thanks for reading and in advance for any help offered.

I'm sorry to hear about your issue. We will try to help you resolve this as soon
as possible.
Please understand we are all volunteers and we are not here all the time.
Sometimes it may be a extended amount of time to get back to you. If it has been
more then 3 days please shoot me a PM and I will try to get back to you quickly
then.
Please do the following and supply the requested information as needed. If you
don't understand my instructions please ask and I will try to explain them
clearer for you. Do not attempt any steps unless instructed or ask before to
make sure they will not cause any further issues.
Go to Start and then to Run
Type in Chkdsk /r Note the space between k and /
Click Enter …It will probably ask if you want to do this on the next reboot…click Y
If the window doesn't shutdown on its own then reboot the system manually. On reboot the system will start the chkdsk operation This one will take longer then chkdsk /f
Note… there are 5 stages…
It may appear to hang at a certain percent for a hour or more or even back up and go over the same area…this is normal… DO NOT SHUT YOUR COMPUTER DOWN WHILE CHKDSK IS RUNNING OR YOU CAN HAVE SEVERE PROBLEMS
This can take several hours to complete.
When completed it will boot the system back into windows.
Hi, thanks for the reply.
Just a question about your reply. You have written the same thing 3 times. Does this mean I do the action 3 times?
It could be later today or possibly tomorrow before I get this checked, so please bear with me.
Grateful for the help.

Sorry must have hit the copy button to many times. I have corrected it. You only need to do it once unless it does find and repair anything then rerun it again and let me know.
Are you still having problems with your issue?
It has been 15 days since your last response and I was wondering if the issue has been resolved?
If so can you explain how it was resolved so others may be able to fix it if they have the same issue.
If not please let us know and we can continue with helping you to resolve the issue.
Hi
Sorry for the delay in replying. I have been away for a time and just home.
My family say they have not had any problems with this since I asked for help on the subject and after trying to make it happen with my own files that I know were like that before, the problem doesn't seem to exist anymore.
Whether it was just a temporary clitch, or a windows fault that it happened at all.
At this time I'm unable to say just what fixed the problem, but if it returns I will follow your advice and report back using this thread.
Thank you for all your help and time. It is always appreciated. Apologies again for not being in contact sooner.
