hey all!
I have laser mouses with all our computers in our computer Lab. But i have observed they get out of order really fast. What are some tips to keep that mouse working for longer period of time.
Plus:
If cordless…
Change the batteries
Again if cordless, you may also want to consider…
Removing the batteries overnight when lab not in use, or use built in disable switch on the mouse if one exists.
Some cordless mice have a depression to fit the USB sensor together with the mouse. This depresses a power-off switch.
If cordless, they "should" power off after x number of minutes of no use. That said, some are so sensitive to movement that just walking across the room will cause enough vibration to wake up the mouse, and, in turn, the computer. Turning the mouse upside down when not in use will help with that, and that works for laser or ball type (if any still exist). But, it also allows for dust to fall into the lens area.
My Logitech cordless has a novel concept - an on/off switch.
but it is not a cordless mouse.. it is with cord laser mouse.
But i have observed it sometimes goes out of control and some other problem when apparently everything is fine
what to do?
The 3 steps in my first post above still apply. And the tip about turning them belly up when not in use still applies too.
But also note that not all optical or laser mice are created equal. In many cases the color, texture, and reflectiveness of the mousing surface makes a huge difference. You many need to experiment with mouse pads made for optical and/or laser mice. Or move to a better laser mouse. Some can track over a wide variety of surfaces.

More specifics is needed, if you wish additional assistance.

However, even with more specifics, the best course of action may be your own experimentation by substituting a different mouse unit for machines that demonstrate a problem, and/or experiment with different mouse pad surfaces.

Also, have a look in the machine's Device Manager.
If there are colored warning alert near any USB item or any item labeled HID, then remove that item from device manager and reboot your machine to allow Windows to freshly detect and install driver for the Device.
