Hi, Sorry to hear of the problem with your Acer. If you want to format and reinstall Windows then the easiest way by far is to user the Acer Recovery Management System. Assuming your recovery partition is intact and no one has deleted it…(it happens!) here's how: 1 Close down your machine (a full shutdown) 2 Wait 30 seconds with a blank black screen 3 Remove any plugged in peripherals…. USB keys, printers etc 4 Power on your machine and immediately start tapping Alt+F10 once every 2 seconds…stop as soon as The Acer System Recovery Screen shows up 5 Follow on screen directions 6 NOTE this procedure will destroy all your data, and return your system to "Factory" condition so make sure that your copy/archive/backup is 100% up to date accurate and reproducible (it should be kept safe on removable media…not your C drive. If you can't immediately get into the Recovery System then alter your timings on pressing Alt+F10 until you succeed. 7 If having tried this you still can't get into the Recovery System then either you are doing it wrong…. or someone has messed up the recovery partition, or it was not installed in the first place (unlikely) 8 Your choices are therefore limited to contacting Acer (who will charge!) or reinstall Windows and all your drivers from a borrowed installation disc….. your will need your Windows operating System Internal and external serial number and all your drivers so double check your back up…… you will also need to borrow an external USB CD drive (if you don't already have one, or its possible to reinstall from a USB key (flash drive) 9 If you made a disc image using Acronis or Paragon or Ghost for example or one of the free disc imaging applications and have the disc image kept safe on removable media then you can be up and running agin in 10 minutes or so. 10 the Acer Recovery System also takes about 10 minutes….. but if you need to reinstall using borrowed equipment and then find your drivers and install all your applications and then the updates and then copy across all your data …its best to allow a complete day fro the work.. Post back if you need any instructions on how to back up when the machine wont start! Regards paws
