LEXMARK SCANNER

I have a Lexmark Scanner MODEL NUMBER X74 - X75 i have windows 7 Os and i ahve tried installing my drivers from CD but it does not work i tihnk its because i have 64 bit i have tried online but no one has drivers for this windows 7 driver for this printer , can anyone help me i have been looking forthis file but i have not found it yet CJXP75LE.exe driver ( this apprently helps me get my driver that i want)

I've had a quick look at the Lexmark website, and you're right, they don't easily give out these drivers. Their "official" answer to this is that the drivers should be available through Windows Update.

So, what I suggest is that you uninstall any drivers that you have installed. Reboot your Computer and make sure that Windows Update is running. You can access Windows Update from Start>All Programs. Just double click on "Windows Update", go to "Change Settings" on the left and ensure that updates are downloaded automatically for all recommended updates.

Now simply plug in your printer and turn it on. Windows may ask you to insert your CD, but there should also be an option to download the drivers from the internet automatically. Chances are, Windows will just try to install the drivers automatically.

If an error pops up saying that Windows was unable to install the relevant drivers, it might be an idea to contact Lexmark support directly. You can either call them on this number 0870 7337100 (it's a UK number), or you can send them a message directly at :

Let me know if Windows doesn't automatically install the drivers and I'll have another look at their website.

If the printer shows up in Device Manager then you can actually use Windows Update from there which is new for Windows 7.

but wen i connect my scanner to the PC it auto matically searches for the driver then it fails to find the driver! so i guess it cant find the update driver

When you get the popup window about searching for drivers, just Cancel it. Then open Device Manager (Start then Run, type devmgmt.msc amd press Enter) and see if the Scanner shows up. If not look for anything with a yellow mark by it. Then follow directions at the link I gave you.

Hmmm, doing more searching, according to the MS compatibility web site, there is no Windows 7 32 or 64 bit driver for the X74-X75 so I don't think there is aone available via Windows Update after all.
