I have a 16gb USB STICK , i can not format it as theres an error tthat says windows can not format etc, i have tried going into disk management and doing it through there but still it doesnt work? i dont know the make of my USB stick but is there anyway i can bring it back to life, My windows read the usb stick and shows the the driver on my computer, but wen copying files and taking the usb stick out and putting it back in, it shows that there are no files on the USB stick, the usb stick is NTFS at the moment. and im using windows 7
Hi, make sure that you have not altered any external switch to " protect the drive" (some sticks have them , most don't)
There is always a possibility that your drive has failed……. They do fail…..
Some suggestions for you:
1 Try and format with FAT 32, if no joy, then try NTFS
2 If still no joy try using a different Windows computer, see if this will help
3 If no joy still, then take a look here:
http://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-t…ormat-usb-ntfs/
(This, if you faithfully follow through all the suggestions, will check that you are performing it correctly)
4 If still no joy then do the format in Linux and format as NTFS
5 If after all this, it still won't work, then maybe its time to try another memory stick!
