So please see what i have and honestly i don't even know if these will work together. They just seemed like good choices. So please reply and thanks in advance

Hello Edawg,

Welcome to the WTT Forums. ^_^

Unfortunately the motherboard that you have chosen is not compatible with the CPU. AMD and Intel, the two main manufacturers or retail CPU's, use different "slots". You need to match up the specific slot type used by a specific CPU to a motherboard using the same slot type. In this case, the Phenom II 965 uses an AM3 Slot, but it can also use AM2+ slots. For more information on CPU slot types :

When building a computer from scratch, a full list always helps :

Basics:
1. Computer Case
2. Motherboard
3. CPU
4. RAM
5. Hard Drive
6. Graphics Card
7. PSU
8. Optical Drive - DVD/CD Drive
9. WiFi Card (optional)
10. Aftermarket CPU Cooler (optional
11. Operating System (Essential!)

Then you also need to consider :
1. Screen
2. Keyboard / Mouse
3. Speakers

I think in your case, however, you need to consider whether you are capable of building a desktop computer from scratch. Have you got any previous experience with building or upgrading machines?
thanks for the reply! well no i don't have a lot of experience with building computers. I just like the flexibility of building my own and I like how I can mix and match the parts to make a good gaming computer. What do you think would be a better route? buy a built tower and just upgrade the weak points? and if so any good suggestions that wont break the bank? I also know a few friends that have built or upgraded pcs that could give some help/advice thanks Edawg
Yeah, I think buying a pre-built tower and upgrading parts would be the best way to go. Manufacturers are constantly bringing out new products, so it's hard to say what's best for you. What kind of budget do you have?
well as of right now it is 1000-1200 for the tower. i don't need anything insane but something that will run games like starcraft 2 and other rts/mmo and maybe even a fps or two with good graphics. preferably high thanks Edawg
Okay, well I found this :

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx…N82E16883229190

It should be fairly future-proof, as in you won't need to replace anything for a while. It will also play Starcraft 2 and any other new games without any problems.

If you want to go for something cheaper, you can always look around Newegg for some other deals. Just make sure you read the customer reviews before making a decision. If you have any doubts, just post a link of a particular machine and I'll check it over for you. ^_^
wow thanks a lot thats way easier than building the one i wanted and about the same price. So if i bought that one i could upgrade it in coming years with better stuff if i wanted? the x6 is better than the x4 processer right?
