Hi there the reference to freezing has only happened a couple times, screen goes blue. System always seems to be "busy". I have unhidden folders and programs. Thank you so much in advance.

Hi busboyceo

:welcome:

I'm martix and I'll be glad to assist you and look over your PC problems.

Before we proceed please read carefully the following guidelines:

  • Malware removal process takes time so be patient and stick with the thread until I’ve given you the “All clean". Absence of symptoms does not mean your machine is clean!
  • Do not run any scans or install/uninstall any applications without being directed to do so.
  • Follow my instructions carefully and in the order they are posted.
  • If you do not understand any step(s) provided, please do not hesitate to ask before continuing.
  • If you do not reply within 5 days after my last response the topic will be closed.
Now while I'm examining your log please:

[external image: Posted Image]
Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here or here.
  • Extract the contents of the zipped file to desktop.
  • Double click GMER.exe. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent .
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan…click on NO.

    [external image: Posted Image]
Click the image to enlarge it
  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following …
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and attach it in your reply.

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<— ROOKIT" entries
Hi martix thank you for your fast reply. I did initiate a scan as above, very bad news. After running for almost an hour, I had the blue screen freeze and now the notebook is completely disabled. Rebooting only leads to a blank screen with a message that says LOADING PBR…DONE. Blue band WWW.DELLCOMPUTER.COM across the top. Blue screen message was "A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer. KERNAL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR. Goes on to talking about restarting in safe mode and disabling bios memory options such as caching or shadowing. Beginning dump of physical memory Physical memory dump complete When this happened a couple times in the past, I was able to just reboot with no issues. I do not even know where my original disks are from Dell!
First of all I would like to excuse myself because I've forgotten your log. I am really sorry about it. Do you still need help? Please reply and I'll do my best to resolve your problem fast
Ok busboyceo,

Please follow the instructions:

Please download maxlook, saving the file to your desktop.
Double click maxlook.exe to run it. Note - you must run it only once!
As instructed when the tool runs, restart the computer and logon to the Recovery Console.
Execute the following bolded command at the x:\windows> prompt <— the red x represents your operating system drive letter, usually C

batch look.bat

🖼Click to load external image (Posted Image)

You will see 1 file copied many times then return to the x:\windows> prompt.
Type Exit to restart your computer then logon in normal mode.

Once back in Windows, go to Start > Run, and copy/paste the following then press Enter.

maxlook -sig

Follow the prompts, and post (or attach) the log produced, C:\looklog.txt
Hi martix thanks and no worries. Before proceeding I need to trouble shoot my operating system for what sounds like a farily common dell partition problem. I cannot boot whatsoever.
Looks like I probably need a rescue disk or an XP disk. I am licensed for the software but dell will not talk to you after your warranty expires. Funny as the partition problem is specific to dell. Maybe let's please close the case for now as this could take a couple weeks, I appreciate your offer of help. Cheers
Well I'm sorry we could not resolve your problem. We'll be here though whenever you wish to continue. Thank you for you patience.
