[boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect C:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" /cmdcons And that fixed the boot agent. Thank you.
Hi SnowFlake343,

We'll adjust the time to 3 seconds. That is plenty of time to access the Recovery Console if the need should ever arise and you will hardly even notice it.

Click Start, right click on My Computer
  • Click Properties
  • Click the Avanced tab
  • Click the Settings button in the Startup and Recovery section
  • Use the down arrow beside the Time to display list of Operating systems to change the number to 3
  • Click OK to accept the change
  • Click Apply, click Ok to close the System Properties windows

Before we clean up the tools, how is the computer? Any problems?

Thanks
Alrighty, I did that. Thanks! :) As far as I can tell, the only problem is MS Silverlight not working in IE, which isn't that big of a deal. Other than that, everything is fixed! Thank you so much for everything, I really appreciate it.
Hi Snowflake343

Ok that sounds good. Your best bet for SilverLight would be here .

LimeWire
You have LimeWire, a P2P/file sharing program installed on your computer. P2P applications like it are the largest source of malware we see. You'll be doing yourself a favor by removing it.

References for the risk of these programs can be found in these links:

I would recommend that you uninstall LimeWire, however that choice is up to you. If you choose to remove this program, you can do so via Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs.

Let's see if we can get your java updated.

Click your start button, open Control panel.
  • Locate the Java icon (it looks like a coffee cup)
  • double click it to open it
  • click the Update tab
  • Click update now
Make sure your firewall doesn't block it.

After the java is updated, reboot your computer if not prompted to.

From your desktop, please delete, if present
  • any notepads/logs that we created
  • DDS.scr
  • GMER.zip
  • GMER.exe
  • SystemLook
  • fix.reg
  • copy.bat
  • myfix.bat
You can also delete any installation file that I had you download to your desktop.

Next

Click the Start button, click Run. Copy and paste the following line into the run box and click OK
Combofix /uninstall

Open OTL then click the Clean Up button. You may get prompted by your firewall that OTL wants to contact the internet - allow this. A cleanup.txt will be downloaded, a message dialog will ask you if you want to proceed with the cleanup process, click Yes. This will do some clean up tasks and delete some of the tools you have downloaded plus itself.

Some Recommendations and prevention tips

Basic security consists of 1 antivirus program, 1 resident antispyware program, 1 on demand antispyware program and a firewall. You have an antivirus program and a firewall.

For resident antispyware I suggest either

Windows Defender
OR
Winpatrol

For an on demand antispyware program I highly recommend Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. you can get a copy from HERE
